Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Some general questions about the last gen 750 NHawk

2018-12-30 Thread EGrider
I've replaced the valve cover gasket and all four turn signal stems on my '96
after 60k miles. Other than normal maintenance, that's about it.

Probably longer, depending on your riding style and what you consider major
work. The only work I can think of is new clutch plates and spring,
specially if you ride hard; then fork service (new seals) probably. Starter
might need attention after a very long while, and bearings are supposed to
be checked and/or replaced when miles are high.

Pipes is certainly the most and easiest weight saver (I did that and
noticed the difference). You can switch to one of the new lithium batteries
which can also save a surprising amount of weight. After that there is no
much to do IMO that won't require cutting stuff from the frame.

I like the conventional looks and riding position of these bike and the
lack of required maintenance. I would like to figure out how to lighten one
up some. My guess is the stock pipes w/be the biggest weight saver (going
to an aftermkt), but I dont see much else to work on/with? Ideas?
