Re: [Nix-dev] Unwanted, unannounced reboot
I've experienced spontaneous reboots too, though they only happen after I update my NixOS. This doesn't happen immediately but rather when I'm away from keyboard some time after. Re: [Nix-dev] Unwanted, unannounced reboot
Wow. Thank you _SO MUCH_ for reporting back. I really hope that it is a software issue, I really do not want to repair hardware or smth like that, so if this is really a software issue it is annoying but I can live with that, because software errors are way cheaper to fix. :-) On 30-08-2016 16:03:49, Matej Cotman wrote: > This reboot event happens every few months or > so, some times even same day. I had Archlinux before (beeing on NixOS for 1,5y by now) and never had this issue, but well, that was before kernel 3.18 or so, so maybe it is a new kernel issue... Re: [Nix-dev] Unwanted, unannounced reboot
I have X220 and suffer from exactly the same problem, I had it at official thinkpad service for 2weeks or so... just to be sure, they put it through all posible tests, the laptop worked flawlessly - they did not find anything wrong with hardware. This reboot event happens every few months or so, some times even same day. Nixos is the only distro that lived on that laptop. But since there are little or no reports of this on internet, ubuntu should work(?). My guess is that some kernel switch is not set correctly. I have tried a lot of stuff, even switched to another SSD. What i havent tried is to make diff of ubuntus kernel config and nixoses and go from there but since reboot happens every few months... you do the math.. Re: [Nix-dev] Unwanted, unannounced reboot
I have a probably-unrelated issue, but mentioning it just in case. Mine involves VirtualBox. When starting up I will log in and open my email or something, but in the background the vboxnet0 service will be failing to start via systemd. When it times out after 90 sec the X server is killed without warning and I'm back at login.
