Why a R16 patch when this is a new feature? Because it's legally needed?

Added a patch OFBIZ-10639_16.11.patch with cookiebar plugin.  I have added an
image along with it to demonstrate how it looks.
Implemented logic for localization in createJsLanguageFileMapping. Added custom
jquery-cookieBar-en-US.js file under localization.

I just noticed that the path of output file location was broken so fixed that
also.

Thanks Aditya,

Yes I get the same with
https://www.google.fr/search?q=gdpr+cookie+duration=UTF-8 though I could not
find a defintive legal definition at
http://ec.europa.eu/ipg/basics/legal/cookies/index_en.htm. I must say I did not
dig into links at bottom ;)

We have also the Session, AutoLogin, Visitor and Site Id cookies with such a
duration. I think it's OK and we can use the same for the consent.

As per the post I explored, it can last maximum 1 year. Citation from the
[post|https://www.cookiebot.com/en/gdpr-cookies/] at Cookiebot
{quote}Every 12 months, upon the user’s first visit to the site, the consent
pops up again asking for a renewal of the consent.
{quote}
Citation from the
[post|https://www.iubenda.com/en/help/5525-cookies-gdpr-requirements] at
iubenda.com
{quote}The Authority prescribes a maximum validity (the ability to “remember”
or “keep track” of the consent) of 12 months from the last site visit. The
iubenda Cookie Solution makes use of this method of “consent tracking”.

BTW, there is a question I was asking to myself. I see that most plugins are
limiting the cookies acceptance duration to one month. Does someone knows if
that's a legal things related to GDPR or it's it's a de facto "standard"?

Sincerely I very like bsgdprcookies. IMO, it really corresponds to the GDPR
spirit. We use Bootstrap 4 already in R17, R18 and trunk. So it would fit
there. I suggest we use another simple solution in R16, for instance
jquery.cookieBar as I guess its implementation should be simple, et voilà.

We got no answers about
bq. Why not letting the opportunity for our users to have this feature OOTB? I
don't think it's both of us to decide, so I'll ask the community on dev ML.

But I'm more and more for a solution where the user is forced to accept or not
cookies before s/he can do anything in the site.

There is indeed a plethora of choices, not sure how to pick one... I like the
idea of being blocked as long as you have not decided if you are in or not.

If we intend to use customize library, I think we can create a fork with custom
changes to get track for future and easy handling of upgrades or, we can also
find possibliity of using some other plugins. Some of the jQuery plugins
available can be found [here|https://www.jqueryscript.net/tags.php?/GDPR/]. At
cursory view, [jquery.cookieBar|https://github.com/kovarp/jquery.cookieBar]

Pierre Smits commented on OFBIZ-10639:

As always, only nobody can tell what the future holds. But there are free CDN
services that quite well funded (through sponsorship), like the ASF is (or
Letsencrypt).

See https://cdnjs.com/about as a good example. I have been using their
references for years now. And I must say that I can't remember having ever
experienced an outage because of this.

I am not talking about the customisations required for OFBiz and captured in
patches committed to our repo. For those the project carries the
responsibilities.

But when talking about generic libraries for css and js, like the following
listed below we could consider utilising a CDN:
* jquery - https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.2.1/jquery.min.js
* jquery-migrate -
https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery-migrate/3.0.0/jquery-migrate.min.js
* jquery-ui -
https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.12.1/jquery-ui.min.js
* jquery-ui-timepicker-addon.min.js -
https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery-ui-timepicker-addon/1.6.3/jquery-ui-timepicker-addon.min.js
* jquery.maskedinput.min.js -
https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery.maskedinput/1.4.1/jquery.maskedinput.min.js
* jquery.validate.min.js -
https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery-validate/1.19.0/jquery.validate.min.js
* jquery.cookie.min.js -
https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery-cookie/1.4.0/jquery.cookie.min.js
* jquery.jgrowl.min.js -
https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery-jgrowl/1.4.6/jquery.jgrowl.min.js
* jquery.jgrowl.min.css -
https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery-jgrowl/1.4.6/jquery.jgrowl.min.css

There is no need for us to maintain (unminimised) css and js libraries pulled
from 3rd parties, purely for the sake of having that code in our repo. What we
do with 3rd party jar files can also be done with those css and js files. We
only have to make our adopters aware that, if they don't want to risk their
business on 3rd party services they can put them in their implementation.

Deepak,
{quote}By keeping in mind about MIT license, I changed the name of variables to
make them more relevant to the functionality. However, we can keep the previous
name also. I also removed some code from the plugin which is not required in
our case. I am not sure if we can add OFBiz license header files for the
customized files having MIT license. Please help me with this.
{quote}
In any cases (as is, or customised) we need a notice in LICENSE file. I believe
adding a line in the ""jQuery"" section should be OK. BTW I wonder if the state
is correct there after the move to common-theme...
 Now about customising the code, is that required? Else I'd be in favor of
letting it as is even it contains not used code. If we modify it, I don't think
it's right to change the license. Because we then modify a work and don't
create a new one. A small comment specifying what is modified should be enough.
Also then the name should contain "custom" as we have
jquery-ui-1.8.13.custom.css, easier for possible later maintenance.
{quote}Changes in custom.css files are copied from Example.css but I made some
customizations for a better look and feel.
{quote}
Same than above
{quote}This patch was created from the root of the e-commerce plugin. I am able
to apply it from there.
{quote}
Yes me too, that's how I tested, it's not a big deal. By root I mean OFBiz
root. Else we get patches from either plugins root or a plugin component root.
Sincerely it's easy to handle, just easier to have all patches created from
OFBiz root.
{quote}By custom code in Init.js, I mean initialization blocks of other plugins
and libraries. It will be a common file for all initialization blocks. However,
initCookieConsent.js is also fine we want to keep it specific to this cookie
consent feature.
{quote}
OK it makes sense. For now it's only CookieConsent so I think it's easier to
rename it initCookieConsent. We can rename it init.js later when we will add
other inits. A TODO about that should be put in the file.

Pierre,

This was not known when we started this discussion but it appears that Deepak
customised the code. So we need to have it in our repo. We can always discuss
about these changes. I trust Deepak did well (did not check).

Also I'm wondering, how long will these service be free/available. We know what
those firms can do (eg Google). There are there for money after all...

And I don't like much sentences [like this one found
here|https://geekflare.com/free-cdn-list/]

bq. If you are serious about security, then you may consider a pro or higher
plan to enjoy WAF, Image optimization, mobile optimization and much more.

I'm serious about security! Even for our demos, I know what happens when you
are not, and how it can contaminate the whole ASF ecosystem.

Hi Pierre,
bq.  If we're going to use a 3rd party javascript library, then we should
consider to point, in the theme data set, to the publicly available CDN instead
of incorporating that library in our code base.

Could you please explain why it would be better to do so?

Thanks [~aditya.sharma] and [~jacques.le.roux].

Please find responses to your queries and suggestions below:

_"I think we should avoid renaming the external library and its variable names
(ihavecookies). Apart from this we should not modify its headers. As per my
understanding license headers are added for custom files specific to OFBiz and
external files are kept as it is."_

By keeping in mind about MIT license, I changed the name of variables to make
them more relevant to the functionality. However, we can keep the previous name
also. I also removed some code from the plugin which is not required in our
case. I am not sure if we can add OFBiz license header files for the customized
files having MIT license. Please help me with this.

_"Also we should provide not only the minified library but also its plain
source code version"_

I will add the plain source code file also.

_"are the changes in custom.css custom or copied from the ihavecookies project
(example.css file)? "_

Changes in custom.css files are copied from Example.css but I made some
customizations for a better look and feel.

_"And last but not least we prefer to generate our patches from root, easier
for reviewers to apply and test"_

This patch was created from the root of the e-commerce component. I am able to
apply it from there.

_"Could you explain why init.js would be better than eg InitCookieConsent.js
for new custom code. It's not clear to me and I would prefer the later."_

By custom code in Init.js, I mean initialization blocks of other plugins and
libraries. It will be a common file for all initialization blocks. However,
InitCookieConsent.js is also fine we want to keep it specific to this cookie
consent feature.

Hi,

That's right Aditya, It's MIT BTW. Also we should provide not only the minified

reason, but it can help devs in case of issues Also trivial, are the
changes in custom.css custom or copied from the ihavecookies project

benefitial. And last but not least we prefer to generate our patches from root,

About

Could you explain why init.js would be better than eg InitCookieConsent.js for

This said good job Deepak, it works (but in IE11 for the policies text, but we
should not care about it, IE 11 and Win 7 are soon dead) and it's simple :)

I think devs can easily adapt for their needs, so +1 from me with the questions
and suggestions above resolved.

Thanks Aditya,
bq. I think instead of $ we should use jQuery in init.js as $ is commonly used

Yes, we have BTW decided long ago to always jQuery instead of $. That's why you
should not find any in our js code.

Sorry Deepak, did not get the time to review yet, but I trust Aditya did a good

Name of the custom file *init.js* seems confusing, I think either we should
name it closer to ihavecookies if we intend to use it for only this purpose
(for example initIHaveCookies.js or some other good name) or else we can start
using the same file for all the custom code in ecommerce plugin (as I can't
find a file for custom code specific to ecommerce plugin yet please correct me
if I missed on that). I am more inclined to using it futher for all the new
custom code with the same name.

We need to add license headers to new file.

> The Cookie Law is a piece of privacy legislation that requires websites to
> get consent from visitors to store or retrieve any information on their

> 1. When someone visits your website, you need to let them know that your
> site uses cookies.
> 2. You need to provide detailed information regarding how that cookie data

> 3. You need to provide visitors with some means of accepting or refusing the

Provided the patch for cookie consent policy. The labels and styling used in
the cookie consent pop-up are customizable through init.js and custom.css. Also
created a new page for cookie policy and used lorem ipsum text in it. Users can
put their own content for this page through the following data:

Hi [~deepak.nigam],

the proposal looks good to me. The next step would be to provide a patch for
review, if possible.

Thank you!

This should be set to a higher priority than 'minor'. Whitout a speedy and
proper addressing the favourability of OFBiz for potential adopters diminishes!
