[Nssbackup-team] [Question #69044]: After upgrading to Jaunty all backups were deleted
New question #69044 on NSsbackup: https://answers.launchpad.net/nssbackup/+question/69044 I created some full an incremetial backups on a external USB drive with NSSBackup. After upgrading I wanted to recover some data with NSSBackup Restore but now available backups were shown. I checked my drive and found that all of my backups (folders were renamed in incorrect) were marked as incorrect and the files in the backap folder were deleted. My old SBackup files are not deleted. Before upgrading I checked that my backups are valid with using NSSBackup Restore but not restoring. My backups were shown. Could you explain this behavior? If a backup is recognized by NSSBackup as incorrect, would it delete these backup files? -- You received this question notification because you are a member of NSsbackup team, which is an answer contact for NSsbackup. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team Post to : nssbackup-team@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Nssbackup-team] [Question #69048]: Confusing behavior - misleading messages
New question #69048 on NSsbackup: https://answers.launchpad.net/nssbackup/+question/69048 After creating some inc backups because of my questions 69044 nssbackup shows some confusing behavior. Remark: The backups should not contain data, because I did not change anything. First the nssbackup.log in the backup file directory is not the same as the one in the /var/log directory. And it also contains no relevant data. Just one line: 2009-04-28 09:21:53,157 - INFO - ConfigManager.py:__init__(297) - ConfigManager created from config file '/etc/nssbackup.d/nssbackup-nur Homeconf' But the /var/log file does. Second. At the end of all of my empty inc backups this morning a message appeared that there is no space left to create a backup. I could not see any reason for this because I have more than 300Gbyte left, my largest full backup was 100GByte and the inc backup is almost empty. Question #69048 on NSsbackup changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/nssbackup/+question/69048 Steffen gave more information on the question: Ah, ok that was it. It tries to do 2 backups. One for my profile nur home and an other default. I saw the logs. The last one is for default. And the old one is for nur home. How is the behavior? If I have only one profile it should only use this and not a default. Maybe the profile is not loaded correctly in the start. I would expect the following behavior: - only one active profile: this should be loaded as default and executed - more than one active profile: one after the other should be executed There should always be a default profile, if there is no user defined or the user deletes a profile. Could you confirm this is a bug? -- You received this question notification because you are a member of NSsbackup team, which is an answer contact for NSsbackup. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team Post to : nssbackup-team@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Nssbackup-team] [Question #69044]: After upgrading to Jaunty all backups were deleted
Question #69044 on NSsbackup changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/nssbackup/+question/69044 Status: Needs information = Open Steffen gave more information on the question: I am actually searching for the reason: Either something deleted my backup files and not the folders and nssbackup marked the folders as corrupt because it did not find any files. Or nssbackup failed to read the files and deleted these. My backup drive is an external 1TByte Ext3 drive. I could recover the missing files with ext3grep afterwards. The last backup was immediately before upgrading to Jaunty and I checked this. After upgrading I unfortunately did not check if the files still exist and started nssbackup restore instead. Then in restore no backups available appeared I saw that no bakup files exists in the drive. Just the to incorrect renamed folders. My older sbackup folders in the same general folder are untouched, means that they have their files. So my question, Does nssbackup ever delete backup files if it could not read these? -- You received this question notification because you are a member of NSsbackup team, which is an answer contact for NSsbackup. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team Post to : nssbackup-team@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Question #69048 on NSsbackup changed: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/nssbackup/+question/69048 Status: Open = Answered Oumar Aziz OUATTARA proposed the following answer: Hi Steffen, Here is the bahavior about profiles : There is always a Default Profile that can't be disabled. The Default profile will always be executed. So if you have only one profile that you want to run, you should set it up in the Default Profile. Then if you want to do at least 2 types of backups (eg. backup your pictures somewhere else), you should use the Profiles functionality to create another profile. This is not a bug but maybe the UI could be changed to add the Default profile in the list of profiles and state to the user that this profile can't be disabled nor removed.
