Hello Hans,yes, I'm seriously interested in Japanese. I can provide you some sample Japanese documents in UTF-8. But I have them in XML only - I'll prepare some ConTeXt samples. [NTG-context] Problems creating tfms for an Unicode font
Hello ConTeXters,in consequence to the Hans' prompt, I've tried to create enc and tfm files for some Japanese fonts. Namely, I've tried the Mona (http://monafont.sourceforge.net/index-e.html) and MS Mincho (distributed with Windows XP).I've done these steps:1) Created a TTX representation of the font with the ttx utility (http://sourceforge.net/projects/fonttools/)ttx -t cmap -t name msmincho.ttf2) Created the enc files using the Adam Lindsay's XSL stylesheet (http://www.ntg.nl/maps/pdf/30_10.pdf)I've googled out that Japanse "Katakana" and "Hiragana" characters are located at Unicode offsets 0x30, 0x32, 0x33 and 0xff. So I've created four enc files the following wayjava -jar saxon8.jar msmincho.ttx ttx2enc.xsl "vector=30" msmincho30.encThe files are created without errors, but I cannot judge if they are correct...3) Tried to create the appropriate tfm files with the ttf2tfm utility. ttf2tfm msmincho.ttf -T msmincho30.enc msmincho30.tfmI got a lot of warnings of style:--- cut ---ttf2tfm: WARNING: Cannot find character `uni3064' specified in input encoding.ttf2tfm: WARNING: Cannot find character `uni3065' specified in input encoding.--- cut ---and finally this error:--- cut ---Using msmincho30.enc as input encoding.ttf2tfm: ERROR: No TTF characters.--- cut ---No tfm file was created.Could somebody advise/help me? Could it be that texexec needs to be run with
texexec --arrange

[NTG-context] About \defineshortcut
Hello All!
There is intresting macros in cont-new -- shortcuts. It works pretty
well, but I have one question: how to undefine them back?
For example after command:
\defineshortcut [//] [] [style=\em]
I can get slash only by \textslash (which is expected) and it breaks
things like:
\typefile {some/dir/file}
So how to revert to previous meaning of '/'? It is possible to do it
only temporarily?

I've a doc structured as followed :

I have read the previous thread [NTG-context] bibmodule + project, the
result is :

[NTG-context] interesting font
Dear all, quite by coincidence, I discovered a nice font for download. It is called GFSDidot and can be downloaded at http://greekfontsociety.org/ typefaces.html I became interested because it has a full set of polytoniko Greek characters, but the Latin typeface (which resembles Palatino) is very nice, too; it has (for the Regular variant) a full set of small caps, oldstyle figures, and full f-ligatures, so it's almost an expert font. The font is free; the readme says: You may use these fonts for personal and commercial use. These fonts may be freely redistributed, provided that you do not alter them in any way and that you credit GFS for this. These fonts are distributed free and may not be sold or resold for any purposes. The font comes in the usual four variants as an OpenType font. However, texfont and the lcdf-tools choked on the bold and bold italic with this message: ../include/lcdf/vector.hh:52: failed assertion `i=0 i_n' After converting them to pfb/afm (via cfftot1), installation was easy. If anyone (Adam??) can figure out what this message means, I'd be grateful nevertheless. Have a look and enjoy! This latter data model obviously turns into a pop up button with a list of sizes. 5 - The command variants might need specials (eg \setupinterlinespace). 6 - Sometimes the acceptable values depend on the context (eg arguments of \ref), it means that all the relevant information is not static and the data model should provide some entry points. But at first glance this is a very advanced feature which cost might be unaffordable. Finally, it seems that the underlying data model needs more entropy. A - Comments? The seed would come from the actual documentation with automagic scripts and people would update at will. Then people would be able to work on a local version using a web sucker. We can imagine searching facilities as well BTW, Sometimes it is necessary to have some output to understand the real effect of a command. This should enter into consideration.
