i'm not sure what you mean here
\somelua{ lua code that may or may not give back tex input }
if you mean that we can use lua for pretty printing, then the answer is yes, in
my mkiv code there is already a lua based pretty printing framework

Hi, today I have looked into luatex and read the FAQ http://www.luatex.org/faq.html Just for my curiosity, have you looked into neko?! http://www.nekovm.org/ I don't know when you have decide to go to lua and if then neko was out. Guess at what you want: maybe, but not right away. The \luatry
would have to save quite a bit of state information for this
to be useful, which is not feasible on short notice (imagine
having to save some 400+ globals and hooking into a few dozen
data structure operations)

If you want to change the sources yourself, then yes. Otherwise
no. If luatex were to allow this without recompile, nobody could
rely on a stable platform for interchange of documents.

[NTG-context] Columns and backgrounds problem
Hello,
I am trying to use backgrounds in columns. Typically, the background
runs into the other column as the following example.
Is this a limitation, or am I doing something wrong?

[NTG-context] postoned text and headers
Hello everyone,
I have a tex document where I postpone (\startpostponing) certain
pages until later in the document. On those pages I would like the
headers/footers turned off. I have tried \noheaderandfooterlines, and
setting the header to high, but neither seem to work. Have I done
something wrong or is there another way to do this? Here is an
example of what I tried to describe.

[NTG-context] Header number separator
Hi, Some time ago I had a query on the list about roman numbering in headers. Once I got my answer, I asked something else relatively unrelated but in the same thread. It's probably bad etiquette, so I figure that is why it has remained unheeded. I'd like to submit my second query again. I have a problem with the separator in header numbers. I want to use a different separator between chapter and section numbers (-), than between section and subsection numbers (.). So, assuming I'm using roman numerals for chapters, I'd like numering of sections to be I-1, I-2, I-3, etc., of subsections to be I-1.1, I-1.2, I-2.1, I-2.2, I-2.3, etc. Now when I use \setuphead for section and subsection blocks with different [separator=] attributes: \setuphead[section][separator=-] \setuphead[subsection][separator=.] ... it defines the separator for the _whole_ header level, not the number position within any relevant header. So I get this instead: sections are numbered I-1, I-2, I-3, etc. subsections are numbered I.1.1, 1.1.2, I.2.1, I.2.2, I.2.3, etc. Is there a way to achieve what I want to do? Thanks! Articles, presentations, textbooks, lists, interactive screen documents? But to give you a few pointers that may or may not be useful: - The first stop would be the wiki http://wiki.contextgarden.net . There is a section called Sample documents that may be a good starting point. - You could have a look at recent issues of the PracTeX journal; there is some stuff about ConTeXt in there, and it should be good for beginners. - Of course, the Pragma website, but I guess you know that already. - Finally, for ancient Greek, there is the ancientgreek module http:// modules.contextgarden.net/t-greek which I find superior to all Greek typesetting in LaTeX (because I wrote the module). Don't hesitate to ask here when you have specific questions, but maybe that can get you started. I am a humanities guy and do all my work in ConTeXt... I need this functionality for a project (IEEE conference style), so
here is hack to get the feature. The referencing also works.

Basically, section numbers are built according to \??se
(\setupsection, etc), while separators are specified using \??ko
(\setuphead, etc), so any interaction is very difficult. I defined
separators according to \setupsection, and use while generating the
number.
