Not while it only happens to you. The crash has to be reproducible
for a bug tracker item to be useful, I 'm afraid :(

Perhaps it's only reproducible on linux-x86_64?

It seems so (somewhat depressingly). If you have the 32bit support
installed, maybe you can test to see if the other linux executable
is ok. Otherwise, it will have to wait until after my vacation,
since it will take me a while to get my hands on a x86_64 linux

[NTG-context] Problem with XML entities in titles

2007-08-15 Thread Richard Gabriel
Hello Hans,

I'd like to report a problem (bug) with XML entities in chapter or section
titles.
I've just upgraded to the recent ConTeXt version (2007.08.09) and started to
get errors while processing the .tuo file.

Please test the attached minimal example.
During the second TeX run, I get the following error:

--- cut ---
(./test.tuo

(find the complete log in attachment)

Till today, I have been using ConTeXt version 2007.04.17 and it had worked fine!

Thanks,
Richard

I've just tested the precompiled 32bit version from foundry.supelec.fr and
now it works fine (even with TeX-live).

Thus, there will be soon (today or tomorrow) a new texlive-rpm with support
for MKIV.

It seems that the setting of TEXMFCNF given in mag12
(/tex/texmf-local/web2c) was insufficient for getting the setup
 parameters for TeX format generation.

For my texlive setup I translated the mag12 entry into:
 TEXMFCNF={/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c,/usr/local/texlive/
 2007/texmf/web2c}

 But at least I needed:
 TEXMFCNF={/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c,/usr/local/texlive/
 2007/texmf/web2c}
I hope others may profit from this observation.

By the way, the following seems very strange as luatools tells me:
 LuaTools | loading /usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf
 LuaTools | skipping /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c/texmf.cnf

The name of the file in the context distribution however is
 /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c/context.cnf but it is not
 searched for!
COULD THIS BE A MISNOMER, either in a script or in the file name?

this is teh cnf file used in the minimal; in principle you can set
 this
 with TEXMFCNF

That doesn't seem to be the case, vide this output:
110 ~/temp/luatex: echo $TEXMFCNF
{/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c/context.cnf,/usr/local/texlive/
2007/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf}
111 ~/temp/luatex: luatools --generate
LuaTools | skipping /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/web2c/context.cnf/
texmf.cnf
LuaTools | skipping /usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf/
texmf.cnf

Obviously TEXMFCNF can be set to a directory only, not to a file.

[NTG-context] running luatex?

2007-08-15 Thread Hans van der Meer
After some hassles (no problem with me, to be expected from something
new as luatexbeta) I finally got as far as:

compiling and installing luatex, luatools and friends.
setting up shell variables.
doing texexec --make --all --luatex

Alas, mag12 tells about installing luatex, it does not tell me how to
run things.
I thought that luatex --fmt=cont-en luatest1.tex would work, but it
gives me:

  This is luaTeX, Version 3.141592-beta-0.10.2-2007081511 (Web2C 7.5.6)
  I can't find the format file `cont-en.fmt'!

Now doing luatools --ini --compile cont-en tells me Beginning to
dump on file cont-en.fmt (format=cont-en 2007.8.15)

but even then I get:
126 ~/temp/luatex: luatex --fmt=cont-en luatest1.tex
This is luaTeX, Version 3.141592-beta-0.10.2-2007081511 (Web2C 7.5.6)
I can't find the format file `cont-en.fmt'!
And no better with:
127 ~/temp/luatex: luatex --fmt=cont-en.fmt luatest1.tex

I did the example luatools lmr12.afm and it gave neatly /usr/local/
texlive/2007/texmf-dist/fonts/afm/public/lm/lmr12.afm

but if I do luatools cont-en.fmt it just returns an empty message.

How do I proceed? What am I missing here?

There is a file source/local/Icon? (dblquotes excluded) that must
be the culprit. Its just a file entry, no contents. But as an
artifact of the MaOSX system it cannot be ignored (and I'd like not
to throw them all away, risking they will appear again unnoticed). I
would be glad if it could be dealt with.
As can be seen, after ['Icon a newline follows in the tma entry and
I am fairly sure that this will trigger the error.
Furthermore I draw attention to the .DS_Store file, which is a
MacOSX specific file that can be safely ignored.

I find in the log:

Can this be caused by the Icon business? Does it cause problems?

By the way. In the TEXMFCACHE-directory it seems that each time I do
luatools --generate a new directory with a name like
b9039f6e25c37964f568cecc8a8f763d is generated. What do I do with
them? Keep only the most recent and throw the rest away? Aren't older
ones not cleaned out automatically? Also there are various tma and
tmc files in a tree directory. That ok?

I agree, metatype1 is not very easy to use if you are familiar with

delegates most the hard work to fontforge, and it's results are normally

AFAIU XML, having a lone in the file is not valid. You need to

I also tried the various docbook2xxx style utilities but they

All I want to do is read the #$% files!

Did you try db2latex? It comes with db2context which handles a

I will look up db2latex, download it, and try it. But of course I
would prefer a Context solution if possible.

Sorry. I was wrong about the name. I meant dblatex
(http://dblatex.sourceforge.net/) which has dbcontext, so you can get
a context solution.

Here is some code from the file titled index.docbook in the above

To me this means that this is not DocBook but a variant of docbook.
Which explains why most docbook2xx utilities were failing on it.

I don't know enough about docbook to determine the validity of any of
the above. There is a subdirectory called common that contains
style files with css suffix but I don't have the foggiest notion of
which to use or how to include them into a translation of the

Regarding krita; you can make context recognize them by using
\definexmlentity. See xtag-ent for entities that are already defined.
Also see the Hans's XML manual
http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/example.pdf. However
writing the code to do everything from scratch will be a lot of work.
Best is to figure out what is the difference between this variant and
docbook, and add those definitions to dbcontext.

Or perhaps, if the document is simple, remove all the xml tags and add
tex/context tags manually.

[NTG-context] Crop marks fonts

2007-08-15 Thread Pascal de Bruijn
Hi,

When enabling crop marks, ConTeXt prints the page number in each corner. Is
it possible to specify which font I want to use for that?

Regards,
Pascal de Bruijn

There is a file source/local/Icon? (dblquotes excluded) that must
be the culprit. Its just a file entry, no contents. But as an
artifact of the MaOSX system it cannot be ignored (and I'd like not
to throw them all away, risking they will appear again unnoticed). I
would be glad if it could be dealt with.
As can be seen, after ['Icon a newline follows in the tma entry and
I am fairly sure that this will trigger the error.

indeed, looms like there is a newline in the filename

Furthermore I draw attention to the .DS_Store file, which is a
MacOSX specific file that can be safely ignored.

so we need a list of foles that can be ignored

 8380572d1d594c806eb224cb2d00c228.tma:20: unfinished string near ''Icon'

Can this be caused by the Icon business? Does it cause problems?

indeed

By the way. In the TEXMFCACHE-directory it seems that each time I do
luatools --generate a new directory with a name like
b9039f6e25c37964f568cecc8a8f763d is generated. What do I do with
them? Keep only the most recent and throw the rest away? Aren't older
ones not cleaned out automatically? Also there are various tma and
tmc files in a tree directory. That ok?

there should be only one, mtxrun --script cache --purge will remove tma's

Hello,

if you install the texlive-rpm from http://pmrb.free.fr/texlive/ on
linux-x86_64, you should execute something like the following commands
after installation:

wget -O-
http://foundry.supelec.fr/frs/download.php/513/luatex-beta-0.10.2-linux-i586.tar.bz2
 | tar -xjf- -C/tmp
cat /tmp/luatex `which luatex`
updateConTeXt.sh

You should get these lines only when filling in the cache (first texexec
run). The output of the second texexec run should be much shorter.
 Cheers, Peter

indeed, and some of them are for diagnostics and may go away

(you can turn on a lot of tracing btw)

But I can't remember the name, and thus I can't find the thread and

Re: [NTG-context] Change line spacing of the publication list

Hi Taco,

Sorry for the late reply.

Your code works, and I am using the latest ConTeXt. However, if I
change the code to

\setuppublicationlist[before={\setupinterlinespace[big]}]

it still has no effect. Any way, my problem is solved as your code
works just fine.

Thanks a lot.

 PS \setuppublicationlist[before={\setupinterlinespace[line=5pc]}]
 perhaps helps
