[NTG-context] Fonts readily available in Context

2009-01-12 Thread Curious
Hello All:

There are quite a few fonts available in Latex with matching math fonts. The way
a user like me who understands nothing about fonts can use them is to simply
load a package. For example, for charter I can simply use the command

\usepackage[charter]{mathdesign}

Or, to use Palatino for text and some maching math fonts, I can use the command

\usepackage{mathpazo}

Are there fonts in Context with matching Math fonts other than Computer modern
that can be used in an as simple manner,i.e., by just issuing few commands. If
yes, can you please guide me to a resource which lists at least some of these
fonts (again they should have matching math fonts) and the simple commands
necessary to load them. I would find that really helpful

Thanks very much.

Hello,

Just some basic feedback ...

- GUI on Windows (written by Vyatcheslav) doesn't offer --context=alpha switch
- There's nothing wrong with just overwriting the existing files with
files extracted from PRAGMA; first-setup.sh doesn't do much more than
that.
- The luatools --selfupdate and mtxrun --selfupdate are not supposed
to be FAQ items, but they are rather a flaw that should be fixed in
distribution itself

To Mehdi:
   luatools --selfupdate
   mtxrun --selfupdate
   luatools --generate
   context --make en

If you ask me -- none of the first three commands should be needed,
but then I'm the one to blame for the first two and for the reason why
these are not fixed yet.

Symbol fonts are basically Times-like typefaces with Greek glyphs and
some additional symbols used in math; the Greek letters are already
present in the TeX Gyre fonts, and most of the symbols should be added
as part of the TeX Gyre Math project.

Sorry, I have to rephrase that. The license is such that any
improvements made by the TeX Gyre project could not be included
in texlive (the license prohibits commercial redistribution).
That in turn made the font family undesirable candidate for
TeX Gyre, I assume.

The license of URW Garamond prohibits modification so it can not be
imporved upon bt the TeX Gyre project, and the Symbol font will not
benefit from Gyre-ification due to its symbolic (non-text) nature.

Bear in mind that the TeX Gyre project is a font development effort,

The example text is flawed in itself: \newcatcodetable gives you an
empty table, and \startcatcodetable upgrades that to 'initex' level
itself. But initex *does not* set the catcodes of { and }. Nor
does it set the catcode of $, & and %, so the catcode assignments
that are needed are not there, and the ones that are there are
superfluous.

  \startcatcodetable \mycatcodetable
\catcode`\{ = 1
\catcode`\} = 2
  \stopcatcodetable

is enough.

Best wishes,
