There are the 12 basic TimesNewRoman, Arial and Courier fonts, but
not all versions of those fonts have the same glyph repertoire.

For Hans, this would be a useful addition to mtx-fonts:

[NTG-context] Consistent row spacing in TABLEs

2009-03-10 Thread Thomas Floeren
Hello,

I have a problem to get consistent row spacing in TABLEs when the whitespace
in the document is set to any other than 'none'.

Example:

% coding: utf-8

\enableregime[utf]

\setupwhitespace[medium]

% \setupwhitespace[none] %% with this it works fine

\setupTABLE [spaceinbetween=7pt,split=yes]

\starttext

\bTABLE

\dorecurse{50}{\bTR \bTD table cell \eTD \bTD table cell \eTD \eTR}

\eTABLE

\stoptext

The row spacing after the page break seems to be correct, but on the first
page the vertical space is heavily reduced (as it is in one-page TABLEs).

The only solution I found was to change the whitespace setting to none
before each table.

Is there any other workaround? Or am I doing something completely wrong?

ConTeXt  ver: 2009.02.25 14:43 MKII

Thanks in advance

Thomas

That's not a reason why we can't ship typescript files for Windows
and Mac. We still have type-msw with typescripts for Verdana and
Arial and type-xtx with typescripts for the Mac (a lot of them
for XeTeX only).

I think it makes sense to provide two new files type-win for fonts
included in Windows Vista and type-mac for Mac OS (are .dfont fonts
working in LuaTeX 0.40).

I still say it's not a very good idea to do this but here is a fixed
version of your macros. You should always take care to keep scratch
counters/dimenens/... local.

\def\doCountLines#1\par{%
\begingroup
\setbox\scratchbox\vbox{#1\par}%
\getnoflines{\htdp\scratchbox}%
\global\parlines=\number\numexpr\noflines
(step 2: P\space\the\parnumber, \the\parlines\space L)\relax
\ifnum \parlines = 1
(step 3: P\space \the\parnumber, \the\parlines\space L)%
\fi
\endgroup#1\par}

\def\CountLines{%
\global\parnumber=0
\EveryPar{%
\advance\parnumber by 1
%   (step 1: P\space\the\parnumber, \the\parlines\space L)
\ifnum \parnumber = 1
\expandafter\doCountLines
\fi}}

[NTG-context] Spacing after \cite

2009-03-10 Thread Aditya Mahajan

Hi Taco,

Normally, while using \cite one does not need to worry about adding an
explicit space after the command. So, you can write \cite[something] says
 rather than \cite[something]\ says But something has changed
in core ConTeXt which has changed this behaviour.

Consider the test file:

\usemodule  [bib]
\setuppublications[alternative=num]

\starttext
Test~\cite[something] is wrong
\stoptext

I have two versions of ConTeXt. With ConTeXt 2009.01.18 (which has t-bib
version=2008.10.27), I get (notice the space after [] and is)

%---
Test [] is wrong
%-

With ConTeXt 2009.03.09  (which has t-bib version=2008.12.01) I get
(notice that there is no space after [] and is)

%---
Test []is wrong
%-

The behaviour is the same whether I use pdftex or luatex. There is no
major difference between the two versions of t-bib. The changelog says

%D \item Catalan translation of 'References' (10/11/2008)
%D \item 'chapter' - 'chapitre' in bibl-apa-fr (27/11/2008)
%D \item Run bibtex via os.execute in mkiv modee (01/12/2008)

So I am guessing that the difference is because of something else, but I
cannot see any differences.

Any suggestions?

Aditya

The old version gives

\dodoubleempty #1-\noshowargumenterror \doifnextcharelse
[{\dodoubletestempty #1} {\dodoublefakeempty #1}

#1-\dododocite

The new one gives

\dodoubleempty #1-\noshowargumenterror \doifnextoptionalelse {\dodoubletestemp
ty #1} {\dodoublefakeempty #1}
#1-\dododocite

So, \doifnextcharelse vs \doifnextoptionalelse.

 Hello,

 What bout hyphenation patters for Ukrainian?
 \language[ru] seems to work, but \language[ua] does not.

There is one issue that needs to be fixed first - the ??? needs to be
replaced with proper language code:
mtx-patterns.lua:{ ??,  hyph-uk.tex,ukrainian },
Then, Hans needs to rerun the script to generate patterns and then you
need to resolve the language synonym problem. Ukrainian should have
been uk, not ua.

 Do you have the file 'mtx-metatex.lua' in your minimals directory?

opt/luatex/minimals# find . -name *metatex*

 Do you have the file 'mtx-metatex.lua' in your minimals directory?

If I copy mtx-metatex.lua from minimal-beta
now I have

Around line 64 of mtx-metatex.lua

  local formatfile, scriptfile = input.locate_format(metatex)
if formatfile and scriptfile then
local command = string.format(luatex --fmt=%s --lua=%  %s,

Is

 Moreover: taspresent was my first attempt at providing something; Aditya

I will take a try.

[NTG-context] pinyin in context

2009-03-10 Thread Bill Long
I input pinyin above Chinese character in bellow way:
---
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[overlap, CJK]{ruby}
\usepackage{pinyin}
\usepackage{CJK}
\begin{CJK*}{UTF8}{song}
\begin{document}
\renewcommand{\rubysep}{.3ex}
\renewcommand{\rubysize}{.5}

\ruby{静}{\jing4} \ruby{夜}{\ye4}\ruby{思}{\si1}

\end{CJK*}
\end{document}

but it has poor line break,

Does contex support pinyin ? and how to implement?

Thanks.
