I have seen it for the first time at

(watch, it's a heavy flash site)

It's my point of view, and not only for typography .

Re: [NTG-context] osx-64-binaries/minimals

2009-11-18 Thread Mojca Miklavec
 If I update the minimals via first-setup.sh I get the 32bit-binaries (luatex)
 although I'm on Snow Leopard. If I change the binaries myself it works fine
 and the compilation is notable faster!

Andreas,

Can you please try one thing?

In first-setup.sh you can try to add the following lines (around line
56, after the platforms are being recognized):

if test $platform = osx-intel; then
  # running Snow Leopard or later
  if test `uname -r|cut -f1 -d.`  -ge 10 ; then
# working on 64-bit hardware
if test `sysctl -n hw.cpu64bit_capable` = 1; then
  platform=osx-64
fi
  fi
fi

And then update the minimals. After that try to paste the same lines
to setuptex around line 59, try to run setuptex and try if you get
the 64-bit binaries and if they work fine (I can try to do that
myself, but I try to avoid rebooting my machine too often). You need
to fix setuptex after you update the distribution since updating will
change setuptex.

If that works for you, I'll fix it.

a.pdf and b.pdf are identical when printed on my desktop laser printer;
xpdf shows them differences;
acroread show some differences too, but they depend from zoom factor.

There are lots of differences between the latest tikz
and the version distributed with tex live.
I compare the minimals tex/generic/pgf/
with that installed under /usr/share/texmf (pgf v.2.00-1 debian 7 May 2008).
I suppose that the minimals use a more recent svn version.

Hello Taco,

Thank you for answering. I can't make nomarking do this trick, I tried
 something like this:
\starttext
The {\bf teacher-student} relationship \nomarking{\bf implies} the authority
of the person teaching over the person being taught.
\stoptext

and the word implies still have bold face on the PDF output, do I need to
do some kind of set up to marking so it works?

Thank you.

Hollo Everyone, Thank you everyone for answering. I think I misinterpreted
your answer Taco I'm so sorry. I tried the solution gave by Alan and It
worked perfectly. This is what i did: \defineselector [title] [max=2,n=2]
\setupselector [title] [n=1] \section{\select{title}{Comunicación con el
{\bolditalic Datalogger}}{Comunicación con el {\it Datalogger}}}
\setupselector [title] [n=2] So when the table of content and the header are
created context uses the alternative 2 without bold face, but the section's
title appears with italicbold. I really appreciate all your help. Thank you
very much

Re: [NTG-context] Remove bold face

2009-11-18 Thread Alan BRASLAU
I learned about selectors from this mailing list.
Before, I had used \nomarking{}, but I believe
that this has been eliminated in mkiv.
The selector mechanism is cleaner, and my use
is typically for figure and table captions.

I have no experience with \startchapter.

No, what you need is \placetable[split,...]{...}{...}.

You don't need starttables/stoptables because the table environment goes
into the split mode itself when you set either \setuptable[split=yes] or
\placetable[split].

Re: [NTG-context] osx-64-binaries/minimals

2009-11-18 Thread Mojca Miklavec
OK, I did a nasty thing. I have patched setuptex to run 64-bit
binaries on Snow Leopard.

There is only one problem: mtxrun doesn't know that one is running on
a 64-bit platform and consequently fetches just 32-bit binaries.

Consequently one needs to call mtx-update with --platform=osx-64. I
fixed first-setup.sh, but existing Snow Leopard users with 32-bit
kernels will have to add that to first-setup.sh themselves ... or we
need to revert the change.

Hans, Taco - does LuaTeX itself know if it's 64-bit or not?

[NTG-context] Metapost Code works with MKII not with MKIV

2009-11-18 Thread Curiouslearn
Hi,

I am back to trying Metapost. I spent sometime yesterday and today
learning about clipping, buildcycles etc. to fill areas with patterns.
I think I will try to write a simple tutorial with it.

Meanwhile, I just updated my installation of Context minimals. The
following simple Metapost code does not compile with MKIV, but
compiles okay with MKII.

\setuppapersize[letter][letter]
\setupcolors[state=start]
\setuppagenumbering[state=stop]

yaxis := (0,0)--(0,12) scaled u;
path demand; path AC;
demand :=
function (1,x,10-x,0,10,1) scaled u;
AC :=
function(1,x,2+8/x,1,10,0.1) scaled u;

drawarrow xaxis withpen pencircle scaled w;
drawarrow yaxis withpen pencircle scaled w;
draw demand withpen pencircle scaled w withcolor 0.5red;
draw AC withpen pencircle scaled w withcolor 0.5green;
fill fullcircle scaled u shifted (4*u,5*u) withcolor 0.1[white,blue] ;

Hi,

I am back to trying Metapost. I spent sometime yesterday and today
learning about clipping, buildcycles etc. to fill areas with patterns.
I think I will try to write a simple tutorial with it.

Meanwhile, I just updated my installation of Context minimals. The
following simple Metapost code does not compile with MKIV, but
compiles okay with MKII.

\setuppapersize[letter][letter]
\setupcolors[state=start]
\setuppagenumbering[state=stop]

\starttext

\startuseMPgraphic{Filling}
u := 1cm;
w:= 2pt;
%Axes
path xaxis; path yaxis;
xaxis := (0,0)--(12,0) scaled u;
yaxis := (0,0)--(0,12) scaled u;
path demand; path AC;
demand :=
function (1,x,10-x,0,10,1) scaled u;
AC :=
function(1,x,2+8/x,1,10,0.1) scaled u;

drawarrow xaxis withpen pencircle scaled w;
drawarrow yaxis withpen pencircle scaled w;
draw demand withpen pencircle scaled w withcolor 0.5red;
draw AC withpen pencircle scaled w withcolor 0.5green;
fill fullcircle scaled u shifted (4*u,5*u) withcolor 0.1[white,blue] ;
label(btex \tfb S1 etex,(4,5)*u);
\stopuseMPgraphic
\midaligned{\useMPgraphic{Filling}}

\stoptext

Thanks. That was a stupid mistake. It works fine now.

 Hans, Taco - does LuaTeX itself know if it's 64-bit or not?

Only internally at the moment, but I could add a variable
in the os library (after I figure out which of the sizeof()'s
is the best one to use).

Best wishes,
Taco
