you need to configure winedt to run

mtxrun --script context

on your file

[NTG-context] ppchtex, color and mkiv

2010-11-19 Thread Jörg Hagmann
From a thread on this list (May 2009:
http://archive.contextgarden.net/message/20090512.132914.5c29b5f4.en.html)
I gather that whereas colouring a whole molecule works fine, colouring
groups within a chemical structure is not yet fully implemented in mkiv.
 Is that still correct?

Putting colour on atoms works with {\blue C} etc. or \defineprocessor
... etc. chemred-C etc.. However, I couldn't find a way to colour the
bonds belonging to the group. Is there one?

ppchTEX does a superb job and I hope that the most useful features will
be implemented in the near future in mkiv!

Re: [NTG-context] index sort question

2010-11-19 Thread Jano Kula

Hello Horacio,

if you have only one index item per page, than on the second level you
can use \pagenumber for sorting:

A\index[arbol+\pagenumber]{arbol+rojo}\page
B\index[araña+\pagenumber]{araña+linda}\page
C\index[arbol+\pagenumber]{arbol+verde}\page
D\index[araña+\pagenumber]{araña+grande}\page
E\index[arbol+\pagenumber]{arbol+blanco}\page

The first level should be sorted alphabetically, because
1) you need to group index items according to first word (arbol, araña)
2) if the first item in the publication would start with z, than you
would have Z as the first letterhead in the register (according to
what you want), not speaking about others, so you could get Z G I E A N
L ... as an alphabet, and nobody would find anything.

The only way that I managed to do this is to draw the chemical twice and to
use overlays (or to trick the bounding box using left=,right=,top=,bottom=).
It would be nice to be able to draw colored bonds, perhaps with the syntax:
\chemical[SIX,rulecolor=blue,SB1,rulecolor=black,SB2..6][]

The problem is that we usually don't mix single tokens with token=val.
(but Hans has broken this rule with an experimental feature: Z1=C, currently
broken as it converts C to lowercase...)

For now, rulecolor= can only be specified in \startchemical or \setupchemical.

Maybe we can discuss this with Hans off-list?

Using bitmap (metafont) fonts in context is not really supported, I
think. ConTeXt MkIV at least seems to actively disable the .pk bitmap
searching in luatex.

Are you using texlive? (the font is available as a TL package).

If so, then with an input like this

   \definefont[suetterlin][suet14 sa 1]
   \starttext
   {\suetterlin some text}
   \stoptext

'texexec' should work more or less out of the box.

I said more or less because on some systems automatic pk generation is
turned off, and then you may have to call mktexpk by hand, for example:

  $ mktexpk --dpi 514 --mag 12/14 --mfmode localfont suet14

The first test test is indented as expected, the following, after the

Ah. It's here Barney got this advice. Well: no to get context mkiv
running with winedt you only need to set in the execution modes
context.exe as the executable for context.

The problem of Barney is that for some reason the doc-folders are
in the context search pathes,

e.g.
I:\Z-Testcontext mathtest.tex
...
This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.60.2-2010100221 (MiKTeX 2.9) (rev
3736) \write18 enabled.
(J:/MiKTeX2.9/doc/fontinst/examples/mathptm/mathtest.tex

and so format generation fails because a context.tex in the
documentation of circuittikz is found.

I have made a bug report at the miktex site, but perhaps you know
what is going on? The search path of luatex itself is fine.

you need to configure winedt to run

mtxrun --script context

Ah. It's here Barney got this advice. Well: no to get context mkiv
running with winedt you only need to set in the execution modes
context.exe as the executable for context.

context.exe is just a stub that effectively calls

  mtxrun.exe --script context

so that's why I suggested it as it might be that there is no context.exe
in the path.

and so format generation fails because a context.tex in the
documentation of circuittikz is found.

ah, interesting; it makes me wonder why the doc search path is consulted
in the firstplace (maybe mojca can simulate it on her machine as she did
the miktex testing)

I have made a bug report at the miktex site, but perhaps you know
what is going on? The search path of luatex itself is fine.

Christian thinks that this is a MiKTeX specific bug. For some
reason the ConTeXt search path (defined in
miktex\config\context.ini) is not honoured.

 file for them if needed.

Using bitmap (metafont) fonts in context is not really supported, I
think. ConTeXt MkIV at least seems to actively disable the .pk bitmap
 searching in luatex.

Are you using texlive? (the font is available as a TL package).
Nope I use the minimals for context, have TL laying around, but not
using it right now

If so, then with an input like this

 \definefont[suetterlin][suet14 sa 1]
 \starttext
 {\suetterlin some text}
 \stoptext

'texexec' should work more or less out of the box.

I said more or less because on some systems automatic pk generation is
turned off, and then you may have to call mktexpk by hand, for example:

$ mktexpk --dpi 514 --mag 12/14 --mfmode localfont suet14

Will give it a try, and hopefully it will work, but if not I hopefully
can come back here...

Maybe some rounded frame?

With MkIV blocks are hidden by default while MkII prints them, add

I did not think so, but better safe as sorry.

pdfTeX warning: pdftex: no GlyphToUnicode entry has been inserted yet!

But I do not know if that is a problem.

The pfd is made with:
texexec --automp flowchart

Without the --automp I get a message about mpost.

Is mpost run or not? Your code looks ok and generates an image here, so it

looks like mpost is not run on your system.

I tried to make it after running 'texexec --make metafun'.
It is still not run. I get:
systems : begin file flowchart at line 3

locate mpost gives:

/usr/lib/texmf/doc/man/man1/mpost.man1.pdf
/usr/share/doc/packages/libSDL-devel/html/sdlsempost.html

You pdftex is from texlive, but you do not have a metapost executable from
texlive. Either install metapost in texlive or use minimals (You already
seem to have the minimals installed. You need to run source
~/ConTeXt/tex/setuptex to add the minimals' binaries to the path).

No, because you need \doifassignment. Your code allows only

   \define...[new][old][..=..]

and

   \define...[new][..=..]

but it’s not possible to write

   \define...[new][old]

because „new“ won’t use „old“ as parent with this defintion.

it is etex's \protected prefix and not to be confused with the etex
primitive \unexpanded

it happens that before there was etex we already had \unexpanded but
implemented differently

\unexpanded in context defined a macro as not expandable in some cases,
like within an \edef
