[NTG-context] problem with externalfigure

2012-02-08 Thread Pavel Dohnal
Hello,
I installed context according to this page on my Fedora 15 system.
Installation seems to went well. But after runing context on this document:

\starttext
\externalfigure[http://donsmaps.com/images7/lucy2reconstsmh.jpg]
\stoptext

I got this strange output:

Unix-like platforms (Linux/MacOS X/FreeBSD/Solaris)

because mkiv it's under active development.
Usually I install everything under e.g
/opt/luatex/standalone-2012-02-08/
so I can keep ly 2 or 3 standalone (the last good beta, the new beta
and my personal experiments).
Usually the new beta become the ok beta after a few days.

For beta there is also

Re: [NTG-context] no liga with Brill font

Hi there,

there is a zero-cost font (not available for commercial works without
previous permission) from Brill (http://www.brill.nl/news/brill-typeface).

Standard ligatures such as fi and fl don't work:

\usemodule[simplefonts]
\definefontfeature[default][default][script=latn]
\setmainfont[Brill]
\starttext
fi fl ff ffi ffl
\stoptext

The glyphs are defined (ff, fi, fl, ffi, ffl), but when I test ligatures with
FontForge (Ctrl+K) these glyphs aren't used and single substitution
lookups in different subtables are performed for the different ligatures
(actually no ligatures are used).

The font seems to be using contextual substitution instead of regular
ligatures (so the ligature glyphs are not really used, but alternate f’s
and i’s etc. are used instead to give the same effect, quite helpful if
you want to color only part of the ligature), so you may node to set
mode to node:

\definefontfeature[default][default][script=latn,mode=node]

However, your example works here without any modifications (I added
color commands just to showcase the usefulness of this approach).

\usemodule[simplefonts]
\definefontfeature[default][default][script=latn]
\setmainfont[Brill]
\def\r#1{\color[red]{#1}}
\def\b#1{\color[blue]{#1}}
\starttext
\r{f}\b{i} \r{f}\b{l} \b{f}\r{f} \b{f}f\r{i} \r{f}\b{f}\r{l}
\stoptext

Here are two examples from an upcoming manual (about nasty font details
... quite some work so far from ready)

\setupbodyfont[dejavu]

\starttext
\showotfcomposition{name:dejavuserif*default at 24pt}{1}{affiliation}
\page
\showotfcomposition{name:cambria*default at 24pt}{1}{affiliation}
\stoptext

Dejavu has real ligatures but cambria has alternate glyphs.

I can confirm that this is similar to the problems I am experiencing. The
problem was introduced between BETA 2012.01.02 19:23 and BETA 2012.01.11

There were some betas released between these two, but they caused other

Thanks Marco. Where can I find a list of the parameters relevant
to chapter, section, and subsection for \setuplist?

Since they are all implemented using the lists mechanism, all
parameters of the lists apply. See the manual
(http://pmrb.free.fr/contextref.pdf), chapter 12.1 or the wiki. But
you're right, neither pagecolor nor numbercolor are mentioned.
However, pagestyle and numberstyle are listed. The …style and …color
commands always (somebody correct me if there are exceptions) come
in pairs. That means you can be almost certain that if a color
command works, also a style command will work and vice versa.

Stop Working means no longer get positioned where they should be
but still get drawn.

In my case all graphics are shifted to the right by
Some-Unknown-Distance. In Philipp's case the various graphics parts
jump about. (I've seen something similar when drawing multiple nodes).

I've included my minimal example below again. I wouldn't say that
titles are causing the issue, it just seems to be that the first
picture will render okay and then all others from then on will be
misplaced. In the example that Philipp gave removing the \section line
will still demonstrate the issue.

Please let me know if there's any more information that I can provide.

Interesting is that it matters if one puts colons after words:

one % :

\pic

two:

\pic

Anyhow, the problem is that tikz messes around with cq. assumes nullfont
to be in a certain state which is asking for troubles.

In font-set.mkvi there is some provision for this (which I don't like),
but anyhow, one can uncomment the \dorecurse line

\def\font_preloads_reset_nullfont

keep en eye on this as:

maybe tikz should push/pop nullfont dimens to be on the safe side as
there is no rule against setting nullfont

[NTG-context] Cross-document referencing not working!

2012-02-08 Thread Verhaag, G.C.H.M.

Hi ConTeXt User's,

I'm struggling with cross-document referencing, but can't get it working!

When I for example use \useexternaldocument[tst][test][A test external]
together with \from[tst] the test.pdf file is correctly opened in
Acrobat Reader.

But the \in{section}[tst::crossref] doesn't open the test.pdf file at
all?! The jump to the 'crossref' section doesn't seem to work! Please
take a look at the two included test files.

I first compile test.tex followed by the compilation of crossref.tex.
Currently I use: ConTeXt ver: 2012.01.25 14:16 MKIV fmt: 2012.2.7
int: english/english.

Gerard Verhaag

No, these are completely unrelated implementations and I have no plans
to extend natural tables (at least not now). Of course you can try what

\usemodule[ntb-to-xtb]

does with your code (but it's not meant as real replacement). Anyway I'd
rather not touch the already rather complex natural table code.

I'd be really happy to see them in that format, so I can read then on my eBook

Thanks for the reply, Kahled.

If I'm not wrong, TeXLive doesn't include beta software (this might be a

[NTG-context] How to make Figure captions justify if long?

2012-02-08 Thread Wagner Macedo
Hello,

The title is not self explaining, I'll try to do this.

My layout style require that table or figure captions stay centered only if
short. If long, it needs that the caption be justified (like normal text,
but less width).

In LaTeX, I know that this works on article document class, like the pdf
file I attached shows.

I don't know if I get you right, but I think you are talking about
the width of the caption. It adaptes to the with of the figure.
There is the “minwidth” parameter for \setupcaptions, but since the
