Hi Hraban,

If you want to change the way the footnote number in the text is shown 
something like a variation of the following might help you (copying this from a 
solution given by Wolfgang S. a few years ago…):

\define[1]\MyFootnotenoteCommand{\high{\bf{(#1)}}}
\setupnote[textcommand=\MyFootnotenoteCommand]
\setupnotation[footnote][left={(},right={)}]

Hi there!\footnote{I’m a footnote.}

I wonder whether the following code is what you may want:

\setuppapersize[A9, landscape]
\setupnotation[footnote][numbercommand=\tf\high]
\starttext
a\footnote{b}
\stoptext
