In the following test script, I get ordinary numbers, no old style.

\definefontfeature[onum][default][onum=yes] or you the predefined

\starttypescript [serif] [MinionPro]

[NTG-context] problem with quotation marks

2009-05-15 Thread Thomas A. Schmitz

Hi all,

the following minimal example demonstrates a problem with closing
quotation marks (both mkii and mkiv):

\setuplayout[width=3cm]

ConTeXt breaks a line between ' and . This shouldn't happen.

[NTG-context] upcoming conference

2009-05-15 Thread Hans Hagen

Dear TeX user,

The upcoming EuroTeX 2009 takes place from August 31 till September
4 in Den Haag in The Netherlands. In parallel we will run the third
ConTeXt conference. We already have some 25 talks and tutorials
submitted but we need a few more as we run a parallel program.

If you are willing to present a paper or tutorial, please let us
know. The theme of the conference is Educational Uses of TeX but
of course other TeX and MetaPost related topics will be covered as
well. Depending on the amount of contributions we will program them
in blocks that cover general topics but we will also cluster talks
and turorials specific to macro packages in an additional program.

You can send your proposal(s) to euro...@ntg.nl. Registration for the
conference closes at July 1, 2009.

On behalf of the organization,

Taco Hoekwater  Hans Hagen

[NTG-context] bugs in math engine?

2009-05-15 Thread Oliver Buerschaper

Dear list,

the following are probably bugs in the new math engine as of
yesterday's beta (2009.05.14 16:44):

1. The symbols for number sets in Cambria Math aren't taken from the
double-struck variant.

---
\usetypescript[cambria]
\setupbodyfont[cambria]

\starttext

\math{\naturalnumbers}, \math{\integers}, \math{\rationals},
\math{\reals}, \math{\complexes}, \math{\primes}

\stoptext
---

2. Vector arrows look somewhat strange in Cambria Math ... is this
perhaps due to the font itself?

---
\usetypescript[cambria]
\setupbodyfont[cambria]

\starttext

The arrows should neither extend over the right bracket nor into the
primes:

\startformula{}
[\alpha(\vec{k})\alpha(\vec{k}'),\alpha^\dagger(\vec{k}'')]
\stopformula

\stoptext
---

3. The command \implies is undefined (see previous posting).

\startformula

Hello Jean,

I never tried to use muse, surely have to try one day. Now I was
thinking about something more modest and I think msf-abbrevs is just
excellent for my needs. There are only eight tags to use in abbrevs
file which I learnt in 5 minutes so I could start writing my templates
in no time. Perhaps if somebody else was also interested it would be
useful to make a public version. I always use texshow but it would be
even more useful with templates I think.

[NTG-context] Does or will bib module use ris format?

And as I understand, you are writing a new bib module with Lua. What will the

I'm using RefDB, whose internal bib format is ris, and am thinking about
combining RefDB with ConTeXt.

[NTG-context] mtxrun problem

2009-05-15 Thread Henning Hraban Ramm
As far as I skimmed the discussions of the last days, this didn't show
up yet:

In my LilyPond module I call the programm like so:

\def\LP{mtxrun --ifchanged=\lily!filename.tmp --exec bin:lilypond -
dbackend=eps -dno-gs-load-fonts -dinclude-eps-fonts -ddelete-
intermediate-files \lily!filename.tmp}
\def\PDF{texmfstart --ifchanged=\lily!filename.eps pstopdf \lily!
filename.eps}

\executesystemcommand{\LP}
\executesystemcommand{\PDF}

The former definition results in this call:

mtxrun --ifchanged=c_whatshallwedo-lilypond-1.tmp --exec
bin:lilypond -dbackend=eps -dno-gs-load-fonts -dinclude-eps-fonts -
ddelete-intermediate-files c_whatshallwedo-lilypond-1.tmp

The .tmp file exists and contains the right LilyPond code.
But I get an error like this from the LP call:

.../texmf/tex/texmf-osx-intel/bin/mtxrun:1953: attempt to call field
'HEXsum' (a nil value)

Line 1953 is:

return md5.HEXsum(data)

Looks like a bug in mtxrun to me - or in Lua's md5 module.

http://www.keplerproject.org/md5/manual.html#lua_api says, there'd be
only sum and sumhexa methods.
Replacing HEXsum with sum works, sumhexa gives the same error as
above.

The PDF call gives:

MTXrun | file 'c_whatshallwedo-lilypond-1.eps' is unchanged

Even if the .eps file doesn't exist at all.

There are no .md5 files like before. I guess that's right?

Re: [NTG-context] New module - mkiv font loading

2009-05-15 Thread Mohamed Bana

I got a chance to try it out; it's great.

What I don't understand is that I need to use \starttext ... \stoptext,
normally omitting these work. In your module's case I have to use it or
it just typesets with L. Modern.

\startcomponent first
\productproject
\environmentmy.env

\starttext % I don't normally use this
...
\stoptext
\stopcomponent

Re: [NTG-context] bugs in math engine?

2009-05-15 Thread Patrick Gundlach
Hi,

 We (Patrick, Mojca, and I) have discussed hosting a git repo on the
 garden. I do not think it was implemented. I am Ccing Patrick and
 Mojca, and maybe they can shed more light on the status of git server
 on the garden.

It is not implemented (yet). If someone can give me a strategy (pseudo
code welcome) which alpha/beta/stable to put into the repository this
should be quite easy to do.

How about two branches: one for all officical stable releases, and one for
all beta releases (from Hans's ftp server, synced periodically). I believe
that alpha releases are rare enough to be ignored[1]. Unless disk space is
a problem, I do not see a reason for not storing all betas. Official betas
can be tagged with the release date and time.

than stable releases :-)

[NTG-context] mtxrun problem HEXsum

2009-05-15 Thread Henning Hraban Ramm
(Sorry for double-posting, but my first message didn't show up yet,
maybe it's lost. This one is corrected anyway.)

As far as I skimmed the discussions of the last days, this didn't show
up yet:

In my LilyPond module I call the program like so:

\def\LP{mtxrun --ifchanged=\lily!filename.tmp --exec bin:lilypond -
dbackend=eps -dno-gs-load-fonts -dinclude-eps-fonts -ddelete-
intermediate-files \lily!filename.tmp}
\def\PDF{mtxrun --ifchanged=\lily!filename.eps pstopdf \lily!
filename.eps}

\executesystemcommand{\LP}
\executesystemcommand{\PDF}

The former definition results in this call:

mtxrun --ifchanged=c_whatshallwedo-lilypond-1.tmp --exec
bin:lilypond -dbackend=eps -dno-gs-load-fonts -dinclude-eps-fonts -
ddelete-intermediate-files c_whatshallwedo-lilypond-1.tmp

The .tmp file exists and contains the right LilyPond code.
But I get an error like this from the LP call:

##
.../texmf/tex/texmf-osx-intel/bin/mtxrun:1953: attempt to call field
'HEXsum' (a nil value)

##

Line 1953 is:

return md5.HEXsum(data)

Looks like a bug in mtxrun to me.
Lua MD5 docs at http://www.keplerproject.org/md5/manual.html#lua_api
say, there'd be only sum and sumhexa methods.
Replacing HEXsum with sum works (.md5 files are written),
sumhexa gives the same error as above.

But it seems LilyPond is called now every time, ignoring the checksum,
so simply sum at that one place isn't enough.

Further, the PDF call gives:

MTXrun | file 'c_whatshallwedo-lilypond-1.eps' is unchanged

Even if the .eps file doesn't exist at all.

Greetlings from Lake Constance!

[NTG-context] tlig doesn't work with mode=node

2009-05-15 Thread Khaled Hosny
In the last beta, 'tlig' font feature doesn't work with 'mode=node'
anymore, that is I can't use it with Arabic:

\definefontfeature[default][default][mode=node]
\usetypescript[palatino]
\setupbodyfont[palatino]
\starttext
- -- ---
\stoptext

I'm not sure since when it was broken, but it has been working few betas
ago.

Regards,
 Khaled

OK, thats what I had in mind. Perhaps Mojca can tell me where all the
files are on the server, if not I will find out by myself.

I promise I will give it a try next week sunday, until then I don't have
internet access (vacation :) and my battery from my notebook is almost
empty because I've forgot my power supply at home :-)
