one thing we had problems with was keeping global address list updated. had to do an export -download -import and it's funky sometimes. I think that's a limitation of outlook internet mail version. If you have an idea what what IP or IP range the CE machines will connect from, you can set IMS to deny relay to all but those adresses. There are other methods you can use restrict relaying without authentication. You can allow by host IP. If using VPN or dialup to internal RAS connections you can allow relaying from Only the internal network. Tom, None of these things could work in our situation. Users use different ISP to connect to Internet so their assigned IPs do not fall in any set range. Dialup would be very expensive since users are all over the country. VPN is also not in the picture. Thanks for input.
