[nysbirds-l] Evening Grosbeaks

2011-01-21 Thread Jim Clinton
An a female Evening Grosbeak has made an appearance at the house once again. I
spotted three Grosbeak on Sat evening 2 males, and 1 female. My brother who is
not a birder said he had two birds on Sunday. Now a third sighting. My
brother said he had a single female in the crab apples in the front yard on
Thursday evening at about 4:00. He knows Cedar Waxwings and most of the time
is pretty good matching up things that he doesn't know with a field guide and
his description of the bird sounded pretty good. Since I had the birds on
Saturday it stands that there is a good chance that they are staying around.
It does concern me a little that the birds that my brother spotted in the yard
have never come to the active feeders in the backyard. If you want to come by
and see if you can confirm them that would be great. 37 Cliff Rd West Wading
River
