[nysbirds-l] Tufted Duck - NO...
I figured folks would be interested to know that after today's post positive from Eileen Schwinn, the Tufted Duck was not seen. A few of us checked the usual areas but were unsuccessful. It appears that the best window for success may be early in the morning. Good luck if you try for it and please post a report even if it is negative. Good Birding! [nysbirds-l] Barrow's Goldeneye at Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton
There has been a drake Barrow's Goldeneye hanging with the Common Goldeneye flock at Cedar Point this last week. Saw it at around 10:30am this morning from "the bluffs" - at the NE end of the trail in the signed "Bird Watching Area" (yes, they really have a bird watching area, but actually the whole park is pretty good - they're just trying to keep the birders away from the duck-shooting blinds). The goldeneye move around a lot so patience might be required. -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

[nysbirds-l] 12/ 19 Prospect Park YBChat; photo CBC correction
Rob Jett reports the elusive YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT in Prospect Park ( Kings County) on the Terrace Bridge, by the shipping containers; this bird , though sought for 12/15 was a miss on the prospect cbc despite it being present for a few weeks prior in that general area. Despite the miss, Prospect Park CBC set a new record high with 64 species with a Coopers Hawk , a photo sent from my team member Arinna Ferrario after departure. A post yesterday about the Marine Park CBC Eurasian Wigeon "photo taken" by Barabara Wasserman should be credited to Avi Lewis. A correction there. Following the sign to the Rest Rooms from the parking lot, you go by the maintenance yard which has a significant pile of clam shells. The pile was covered with gulls this morning, but nothing beyond Herring Gulls and a single Great Black-backed Gull. Worth a look. . -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
