[nysbirds-l] summer tanager Brooklyn
There is a first spring male Summer Tanager on the north side of butterfly meadow on lookout hill in Brooklyn's prospect park. Bird was found this morning by Klemens Gasser before it flew west and was not relocated for a few hours. Bird was refound briefly in same area by Phil Davis on Brooklyn Bird Club walk before again flying west. Bird was singing during second sighting and is prob still in area. Around 945 the Staten Island Ruff was on the opposite side of the field as seen from from the chain linked fence at corner of Chelsea and Bloomfield Ave. It was working its way along berm near two large dirt mounds. One of the mounds had a large orange pole sticking from the top. Isaac Grant watched it go between the mounds and behind the berm so some patience may be required.
