[nysbirds-l] Suffolk County birds- Sandhill Crane, Greater WF & Barnacle Goose

2017-02-08 Thread David Klauber
The Sandhill Crane in Wainscott was easily found thanks to an e bird report -
east side of Wainscott Hollow Road, north of cemetery in front of farm
equipment around 8 this morning. Montauk Point had low numbers of birds, and
fog made distant birds hard to identify. There were a few small groups of
Razorbills, maybe 25-30 total, including 1 pair at close range, and low numbers
of the 3 scoters and Common Eider.

A Greater White-fronted Goose was with Canadas on the eastern part of Hook
Pond, along with a couple of Common Mergansers. No Great Cormorant at Montauk
Harbor, and no Eurasian Widgeon at Eastport Pond, but the previously reported
Barnacle Goose was still on the eastern side of St. Charles cemetery at 4 PM.
