[nysbirds-l] Western Kingbird, Brooklyn (Kings county)
A Western Kingbird was seen briefly at Marine Park late this afternoon. It perched in two different trees in a brushy area (which can be accessed via E 38th street "entrance") before it flew off in the direction of the ball field. Josh Malbin and Juan Salas joined me to try and re-find the bird. Despite searching till around 6:30 pm, we were unsuccessful in our attempt to re-find it. [nysbirds-l] ebird report of Ash-throated Flycatcher at Marine Park, Brooklyn 12.05.16
There is an e-bird report (via ebird alerts) from this morning,12/5/16, of an Ash-throated flycatcher at Marine Park in Brooklyn. Bobbi Manian is there now and briefly saw a Myiarchus flycatcher but was not able to get a good enough look to ID it before it disappeared from her view. Just putting this out there if anyone wants to go look, as the bird may still be in the area. The area that the bird was seen in can be accessed from corner of East 38th street and Avenue U. [nysbirds-l] Brooklyn Sparrows - Marine Park Salt Marsh
I birded the "back-trail" (the one that parallels the golf course) of the Marine Park Salt Marsh late this afternoon, and re-found the Lark Sparrow that was reported on Saturday, 8/31/13. I also found a Clay-colored Sparrow. The Lark Sparrow was in the open area near the wildflower area, and the Clay-colored was hanging out in the trees at the end of the trail, right before you turn right to connect back to the main trail.
