[nysbirds-l] A start to the seasonal canvassing of the "Golden Trapezium": "The game is afoot" !
Today, in response to Ken Feustels post of 8/21, I checked out the east Riverhead sod farms on Doctors Path, Sound Ave and Northville Tpke, finding only swallows & starlings at those locations. Driving east on Sound Ave to view some of the construction going on at the North Fork Preserve, in Jamesport, I did have a group of 4 turkey vultures as they circled overhead. On my way home, I had the following species on the DeLea Sod Farm, s/s Sound Ave, about 1/2 way between Roanoke Ave & Doctors Path: 33 large plovers, probably all Black-bellied, although I only saw 6 fly; 32 Killdeer and 24 Semipalmated Plovers.
