Re: [nysbirds-l] Greater White-fronted Goose- field on Pulaski Rd

Sorry for the false alarm, but the reported Greater White-fronted Goose from
yesterday isn't actually what I said it was...oops!  I was rushing to attend an
appointment at the Huntington Medical Group(just down the road) and noticed
a goose with a bright orange bill and legs.  I pulled over and quickly snapped
crappy shots from my camera phone through my scope, however, I didn't get a
chance to thoroughly study the bird(like I normally would have liked to).  In
fact, the bird is a Graylag x Canada Goose hybrid- not special at all.  The
bird's identity was ascertained by photos sent to me.  My apologies for this
premature sightingand for the several of you that went to observe the bird.

Good birding,

A Greater White-fronted Goose is feeding in an open field with at least 100
Canada Geese on Pulaski Road.  I saw it while driving past the field and pulled
over to take out my scope.  I managed to snap a few shots with my camera phone
thru the scope.  The field is located just east of the intersection of Pulaski
Road and Park Avenue in Greenlawn.  The open field is filled with Canada Geese
so its pretty obvious.  Photos will be uploaded later and cand be accessed by
the link below.  This was just five minutes ago from the time I sent this
message.
