A brief stop at Point Lookout this morning yielded 2 Harlequin Ducks inside the inlet as well as 28 Common Eider off the main parking lot. Horned Grebes are certainly in. At Jones Beach the Marbled Godwit continues with many oystercatchers, Dunlin and Black-bellied Plover at the Coast Guard Station. A 15 minute check of the ground Dove location proved fruitless, but the search was not thorough. March 1, 2010 The two Lapland Longspurs remain on the lawn between the gazebo and the bathrooms at Jones Beach West End 2. At Point Lookout two Harlequin Ducks, a male and a female, were near the middle jetty. Also at Point Lookout was an American Oystercatcher (FOS), three Black Scoters, many Horned Grebes and a reduced number of common Eiders. This morning an adult *Razorbill* was present in Jones Inlet as viewed from the WE2 Coast Guard Basin, perhpas part of the recent alcid incursion. Also of interest, especially in recent years, was a male American Kestrel perched in a large deciduous tree immediately south of the turnaround. At Point Lookout there was a single male Harlequin Duck by the jetties. Suprisingly there wasn't a single Bonaparte's Gull seen at either location.
