[nysbirds-l] Red-necked Phalarope at Jamaica Bay
Watched it come in off of bay at around 9:30 in with a flock of peeps. At very south end. They circled 4 times but didn't land. Continued over Crossbay towards "west pond". Heading there now to see if I can re-find it. I had a total of 14 species of shorebird on the east pond. Other highlights were stilt, white-rumped and Pectoral Sandpipers. In addition water levels were quite low and the pond is easily walkable if you're wearing proper footwear. [nysbirds-l] Red-necked Phalarope at Jamaica Bay
The Red-necked Phalarope is still at JB as of 8:30 this am. It was still on the northwestern side of the east pond foraging on the edge and on the mud. Very nice bird. Andrew Andrew v. F.
