[nysbirds-l] Sandwich Tern - Cupsogue County Park
Hi all, This afternoon, Mary Beth Billerman and I headed to the Cupsogue flats to see what was around. Shorebird numbers were much higher than they were on Sunday, with good numbers of Short-billed Dowitchers and Semipalmated Sandpipers, as well as a couple of Western Willets with the Eastern. The highlight was undoubtedly the basic plumage SANDWICH TERN that briefly landed among the loafing tern flock around 3:40 PM. It stuck around for only about 10 minutes before it disappeared without us seeing it take off. Also around were 6 ROSEATE TERNS. Good birding, Shawn Billerman Massapequa -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
