[nysbirds-l] Vesper Sparrow - Lake Success

2019-10-28 Thread Patrick Shure
I observed a Vesper Sparrow in Lake Success at the following location:

40°45'30.8"N 73°41'36.0"W
https://goo.gl/maps/roRQvnMonYhYsorE8

It was favoring the north side of the baseball field moving between the
ground and the trees along the fence. Seen at approximately 8:45am and
again 12:20pm associating with some Savannah, Song and Chipping.

Quick photo uploaded to the below eBird checklist:

[nysbirds-l] Vesper sparrow, Jones beach coast guard, nassua county-yes

2019-10-26 Thread kevin rogers
Vesper sparrow continues in the same spot as yesterday,  the bike path east of
short beach has a turn that goes north about 100 yards or so after the coast
guard sand spit... when you make the turn proceed slowly and the Vesper tends
to feed on the right side of the path , if a cyclist goes by it flies and has
been returning back to the same spot! -Kev

I just found a VESPER SPARROW in a section of Alley Pond Park (Queens) that
I don't normally check (but I had a few minutes to fill). Being that it's a
weekday in October, the ball fields near 73rd Avenue and 224 St. are quiet,
allowing some birds to hang around. 2 Eastern Bluebirds were also here. The
Vesper twice perched on the batting cage closest to the above intersection.

[nysbirds-l] Vesper Sparrow

2012-10-12 Thread Daryl Cavallaro
I spotted the Vesper Sparrow in All Faith Cemetery in Middle Village again
this afternoon. I first saw it Wednesday but was unable to relocate it
yesterday. It has moved to a new location and is now near the General
Slocum memorial, along the paved road that is blocked off to traffic.

Also seen today were good numbers of both types of Nuthatches and Kinglets,
a Pine Warbler, Coopers and RT Hawk, and countless Yellow Rumped and Palm
Warblers.

A photo of the Vesper Sparrow as seen today has been posted here:

2011-04-17 Thread Norm Klein
A vesper sparrow was seen and photographed by Paul Gildersleeve yesterday
