which holds a quarter of Indonesia's coal reserves, said first-
half profit more than doubled on higher prices of the fuel.
Sales rose to 4.6 trillion rupiah ($462 million) in the
period, President Director Sukrisno told reporters in Jakarta
today. He didn't give details.

Setelah tulisan saya terakhir tanggal 3 Mei yang lalu mengenai kemana IHSG mengarah, ternayata IHSG masih melanjutkan rally mencapai puncak tertinggi tahun ini di level 2199. Pencapaian yang luar biasa, dipandu dengan brilian oleh Embah dan Jendral Artomoro. Seperti yang disampaikan senbelumnya, target Elaine IHSG 1600 dibulan Juni 2009 telah dicapai lebih awal pada pertengahan April 2009. Ketika IHSG melewati level 2100, target untuk akhir Desember 2009 telah tercapai 5-6 bulan lebih awal. Sebagai seorang investor, Elaine tentu saja boleh-boleh saja untuk melakukan profit taking ketika tergetnya telah tercapai lebih awal dari rencana. Saya melakukannya. Ketika Embah mengatakan bahwa tidak bijak untuk mulai berinvestasi (long term) disaat IHSG sudah mencapai 2100, saya malah memutuskan untuk menjual sebagian besar portofolio jangka panjang saya. Buat apa? Ketika risk reward (untuk long term Investment), mending ikut Jendral Artomoro, JT, Billy dan banyak trader lainnya, bersilancar ditengah amukan gelombang. Sudah lebih sebulan terakhir saya fokus melakukan short term trading menggunakan peta yang disediakan cuma-cuma oleh Embah (bukankah pernah saya katakan bahwa peta Embah itu luar biasa sederhananya, sehingga membuat kita tidak mudah nyasar?). Sekarang bagaimana selanjutnya? IHSG memang sudah naik banyak sejak terendahnya 8 bulan lalu, nyaris naik 100%. Saya rasa banyak pihak, terutama long term investor, akan sangat tergoda untuk mulai memetik keuntungan. Tapi disaat yang sama, bursa saham kita termasuk gadis cantik yang menarik banyak investor lainnya. Saat ini, pasar modal kita tengah berada dipersimpangan jalan. Tapi yang jelas, sudah cukup tinggi sehingga cenderung mengundang profit taking dan agak kemahalan bagi yang baru mau mulai berinvestasi. Lalu beberapa hari yang lalu Elaine mulai menyampaikan pandangan yang berbeda dari sebelumnya. Berdasarkan beberapa argumen fundamental, Elaine berkesimpulan bahwa ternyata krisis keuangan yang melanda dunia masih jauh dari selesai, dampaknya masih akan terasa dalam waktu tidak lama lagi. Ditambah dengan beberapa krisis susulan seperti nuklir Korea Utara dan permasalahan Pilpres, maka Elaine lebih memilih untuk keluar dari bursa saham dan mengalihkan investasinya ketempat lain. Mencermati perdebatan yang ditimbulkan pernyataan Elaine tersebut di milis OB, saya merasa ada sesuatu yang tidak nyambung antara Elaine dengan sebagian Obers. Perlu dipahami bahwa Elaine seorang investor (long term), bukan (short term) traders seperti yang banyak terdapat di milis OB. Elaine melihat dari sisi fundamental, tidak begitu peduli dengan analisa teknikal (TA). Mungkin pemahaman Elaine terhadap TA hanya diperlukan untuk menentukan entry dan exit poin belaka. Sementara mayoritas traders di OB, yang umumnya menggunakan TA, masih melihat bahwa saat ini (dan jangka pendek kedepan), IHSG masih diposisi bullish trend. Jelas tidak nyambung karena alat ukur yang digunakan tidak sama dan dengan cakrawala pandang yang berbeda pula. Lalu bagaimana menyikapi perbedaan ini? Bagi saya sederhana saja. Dari pengalaman masa lalu, saya tidak mungkin memandang remeh pendapat Elaine, karena dia telah membuktikan ketajaman analisanya sebelum ini. Elaine selalu yang paling duluan mengatakan bearish ketika semua orang masih bullish, begitu pula sebaliknya. Akibatnya Elaine seringkali dicurigai dan cenderung mendapat perlawanan dimilis OB. Jujur saja, saya selamat dari kejatuhan pasar modal tahun lalu dan kemudian memetik keuntungan lumayan ketika rebound tahun ini lebih karena saya mendengarkan dan menghargai pandangannya. Lalu mengapa kali ini saya harus berada diposisi yang berlawanan? Oleh karena itu, saya saat ini sudah tidak lagi menyimpan portofolio jangka panjang. Seperti telah berulangkali dinasehatkan oleh yang lebih tua, tingkat resiko sudah lebih besar dari peluang keuntungan. Analysts boosted their 2010 estimates for Freeport by 11 percent to $4.11 a
share after the operator of the world’s largest gold mine surpassed
second-quarter earnings projections by 90 percent last week, on faster bullion
sales and copper production costs that fell 35 percent.The
per-share estimate has increased 138 percent since falling to a low of $1.73 in
January. Freeport, which has risen 145 percent this year, trades at 14.55 times
next year’s profit forecast based on last week’s closing share price of $59.82.
That’s 40 percent less than its 2009 valuation of 24.31 times, data compiled by
Bloomberg show.Estimates for Goldman Sachs’s 2010 profit have risen to $16.19 a
share, almost triple the low of $5.90 in March. The New York-based bank trades
at 10.17 times next year’s projection. That’s a 63 percent discount to its
multiple of 27.73 using earnings from the past 12 months, even after the stock

second-quarter profit on July 14 that was double what analysts projected as

Warren Buffett to CNBC: Invest in Stocks Even At Dow 9000 Published: Friday, 24 Jul 2009 | 8:36 AM ET Text Size By: Alex Crippen Executive Producer Warren Buffett tells CNBC the economy still isn't showing any signs of life but that doesn't mean investors should stay away from stocks for the long-term. In a live interview on Squawk Box this morning, Buffett says business is still flat. But he stresses that doesn't mean he's negative on stocks, predicting the market will revive before the economy does. COMPLETE CNBC INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT The market is very, very likely to turn up before business. But I don't try and time stocks. I try to price stocks. He repeats his advice from his Buy American op-ed in The New York Times last fall: don't wait to buy stocks until the economy improves. By then, he says, you will have missed the biggest stock gains. Even with the Dow hitting highs for the year around 9000, Buffett repeats his belief that stocks will outperform cash investments, such as Treasury notes, over the long-term. I would much rather own equities at 9000 on the Dow than have a long investment in government bonds or a continuously rolling investment in short-term money. As usual, he points out he is not making any predictions about what the stock market will do in the next coming weeks or months. Buffett repeats his belief there are real inflationary possibilities down the road, due to the massive stimulus being applied to the struggling economy. But he also repeats his view the stimulus is necessary despite the after-effects, because helping the economy recover should be the nation's top priority. Buffett again endorses Ben Bernanke as Federal Reserve chairman, saying I don't think you could have anybody better than Bernanke in the job. He understands all the issues.
