Saya sependapat dengan Pak Andi mengenai stock split walau dengan alasan berbeda. Saya memandangnya bukan dari kacamata sunset industry, tapi dari kacamata perbandaran. Maksudnya SS bisa dilakukan untuk semua industri, nggak harus sunset industry. Menurut saya SS adalah corporate action doesn't make any sense. Saya belajar hal ini dari engkong Warren Buffet. Kalo anda lihat di NYSE, saham Berkshire Hathaway-nya tidak pernah di-stock-split secara otomatis seluruhnya, makanya harga BRK-A satu lembar sekarang di USD 126,875 (atau kurang lebih 1,2 milyar rupiah per share). Ada split-an BRK-B 1/30 dari BRK-A, tapi ini dilakukan untuk alasan yg lain, nggak usah saya jelaskan. Intinya adalah, SS digunakan umumnya oleh controlling stake-holders atau influencing stake-holders untuk cash-out sahamnya ke retailers, karena di harga pra-SS, distribusi sdh sulit untuk dilakukan. Kalo anda punya saham pra-SS, bersyukurlah, karena umumnya corporate action ini akan meng-jack-up harga saham kencang. Asal ingat saja untuk lock your profit. Kalo anda mau icip2 post-SS juga boleh, asal ingat money management secara disiplin. Segera cut-loss kalo untuk trending-down. Jangan sekali2 averaging down, you will be sorry man, karena horizon bandar melakukan distribusi bisa bulanan sampai tahunan (kecuali anda main short-term keluar masuk cepat dengan money management yang ketat). Further substantial increases are expected in all regions of the world in March. EU prices have not reached the lofty figures recorded in other regions because selling figures turned down in mid 2007 as the whole market collapsed after the massive fall in the price of nickel on the LME. A slight recovery is now in place for all grades. The most spectacular improvement is in the ferritic types. Significant alloy surcharge rises will occur next month. Our research shows that substitution of austenitic steels by ferritics is continuing, despite the price of nickel on the LME currently standing at half its value in May last year. This is because customers are not confident that the metal will remain at its existing low level after speculation in previous years. Moreover, a rise in thecost of ferro chrome also affects the austenitic types in equalmeasure to the ferritics. It is now clear that the day of the non-nickel stainless steel has come. These grades will take a greater share of the market in years ahead. The LME nickel price hiatus through 2006 created a permanent change in the potential for ferritic grades. Nickel producers have lost a substantial volume of future business as a result. The mills are now investing in plant and equipment to meet the growing demand.
