Fixed.

Yeah, maybe I should have opened a new bug report,

...but incidentally, why do only playsound and soundisplaying have backcompat
soundslot wrapper?

Hmmm Can you try with the music_silence backend?
 http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/nightly/ohrrpgce-wip-fb-silence.zip

I notice your script plays sound effects, so that could be relevant.

Just tried — it may just BE that, 'cause I couldn't get the text to mess up.
o.O

…on the other hand, I just tried the current WIP nightly (non-SVN, the one
from the Downloads page on the Wiki), and I couldn't reproduce it there,
either. O.o Hang on whilst I do further testing…

Upon further testing, investigation, and tweaking, maybe it's due to the
version of FreeBASIC I'm using to compile the OHR with. Looking at the
migrating.txt, I think I have 0.16b.

What version are the downloadable WIPs being compiled with? . Maybe I'll have
to upgrade or something.

…

Upon even FURTHER investigation, I can't figure out what it was! \o.o/ All of a
sudden, it works fine. . Maybe it had something to do with somthing TMC fixed
in revision 1297. 'Cause it works fine, now. :) I'm gonna mark this fixed, if
that's okay. :)

 Er, I meant http://jcatki.no-ip.org/SDL_mixer/SDL_mixer_28.html#SEC28

I'm fairly sure that, when I first added the SDL music, pause just
didn't work (possibly only for MIDI, though, since that's all there
was at the time). Or was it that resume restarted from the beginning?
Possibly even both.

Because those were the only ones that were used in Missing. If there were any

objection to adding backcompat wrappers for them too.

Do we still have the old bug where you can't use a use door command if your
character is already standing on a door? I recall something similar being a
problem a long time ago. Try making your character walk 1 in any direction
 before the second door command.

--- Comment #11 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-08-18 19:54 ---
I found that the bug disappears and reappears depending on a few details. It
arises in a lot of forms. Here's one that compiles in -lang fb:

FOR a as integer = 0 TO 1
 print loop 1 a= a
 GOSUB test
 print loop 2 a= a
NEXT a
END

test:
FOR b as integer = 0 TO 5
NEXT b
RETRACE

C:\FreeBASIC17drawsnip
loop 1 a=0
loop 2 a=6

Now, if you get rid of the as integers and compile with -lang deprecated,
it goes away. But if the code is a bit more complex, it comes back:
fin = 2
FOR a = 0 TO fin
 print loop 1 a= a
 GOSUB test
 print loop 2 a= a
NEXT a
END

test:
 FOR b = 0 TO 2
printb 'STR$(b) doesn't exhibit the problem
 NEXT b
RETRACE

C:\FreeBASIC17drawsnip
loop 1 a=0
 0
 1
 2
loop 2 a=0

Anyway, it seems the reason you only see it sometimes is because it's a memory
corruption bug, and as far as I can tell, it IS happening generally, but only
sometimes corrupts the temp FOR loop variables. It's not a nested GOSUB
problem, but a nested FOR loop with GOSUB problem.

I test FB0.18.1, and it behaves identically.

Well, to be fair, FB's behaviour is perfectly valid. Generally you don't expect
people to jump in AND out of loops. I think it's intended, not a bug. (And we
were lucky that it worked before)

The warning it gives me refers to a label that doesn't exist in the assembly!
But the warning is valid.

But hang on, do you get those bug 377 warnings when compiing with FB0.16 or
0.17? I assumed you were using 0.16.
