Heh, I guess I should check my inbox before my drafts folder. What
 coincidental timing!

And I should have read the rest of my inbox before replying to your last
message :)

Still, I think that olive green box that replaced the turquoise one
doesn't look too great on the equip menu. And what was that comment
about another UI colour for the browser?

Oh, that comment was about browsing for an RPG file. No ui color lump is
available yet, so the defaultshad to be hard-coded. i ended up[
hardcoding them as 24-bit hex codes al-la-html colors, and looking them
up in whatever palette was loaded, so that problem is solved.

Enabling -exx for windows wip builds

I have no idea why we didn't do that long ago. Anything that will
crash with -exx will corrupt memory without it, and memory corruption
errors are hella harder to deal with (and harder for users to report)

Unfortunately windows builds never display the error message when they
crash from -exx errors (which I guess was actually the reason we
didn't do this sooner) but I would much rather deal with a bunch of
my game closes suddenly whenever I do X bug reports rather than a
bunch of my game crashes randomly bug reports.

Aww damn. I spend all day optimising the script interpreter, carefully
timing every change, and actually manage to double its speed, and then
this comes along. But this makes scripts 4 times slower. And now for
me (high end pentium 3) the OHR runs at upto 100% CPU on maps that
make heavy use of layers and npcs without any scripts, at 2x zoom.

I am willing to reconsider the -exx thing. I knew there was a
performance hit, I just had no idea it was so severe.

maybe I should create separate a separate
ohrrpgce-wip-nightly-default-exx.zip build instead?

[Ohrrpgce] [Bug 607] New: MP Cost Off by 1

2008-02-22 Thread Bob-bugzilla
http://gilgamesh.hamsterrepublic.com/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=607

Summary: MP Cost Off by 1
   Product: OHRRPGCE
   Version: 20080121 Voxhumana
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows XP
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: P3
 Component: Attacks
AssignedTo: ohrrpgce@lists.motherhamster.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It seems that newly created spell attacks are getting charged one less MP at
cost than what's specified in CUSTOM. This has to be a new thing because other
attacks of its type are being alotted the normal cost.

I checked and rechecked the attack. Everything is modeled exactly like its list
mates, but it's still getting charged 14 MP rather than 15, as CUSTOM sets it
for.

Okay, I'll assume that's the problem then. I'll change my MP~ stats to zero and
see if that fixes it. For now, go ahead and close this and I'll email you if I
discover later that it's something else.

Other people might be better informed on this one, but
I'd expect that the graphics card doesn't have a lot
to say about the script interpreter.

--Seth

How much of that is this option, and how much of
 that is the fact that
the OHR is not letting the CPU offload any help to
 the graphics
 card/MMX?
