oh yeah, the force dpi thing in that bug seems like the user not understanding
things.

Probem is most likely hidpi related.

The symptoms are similar, but the problem is not related to force DPI in my
case as I don't have that setting enabled for KDE at all. (I double-checked in
system settings and it is remains unchecked.)

This looks like a duplicate of my bug, but I don't have force DPI checked in
system settings. 

I do have custom settings for display in X11 (which is part of the reason I
don't have force DPI set for KDE):

I note that this worked fine prior to KDE6.

The problem also occurs if the image is saved to file rather than pasted.
