It seems to me that 410723 is the duplicate ;p. But yes, I suppose it is the
same issue.

However my reporting never saw any attention, and almost a year later 410723
was created. Maybe my title & explanation was bad?

Well, it's getting some attention now!

@Oliver

So this is a bug that can't be changed easily?

My monitor is 1920x1080 24 inch display. Not really HiDPI is it?

I installed okular as a flatpak and the problem doesn't exit. Thanks for
clearing this up, I guess I'll wait for neon updates. (poppler will be updated
right? or does it have to do with ubuntu versions?)

[okular] [Bug 401269] Shape recognition for the freehand line tool

2018-11-22 Thread Christos

>From what I've seen xournal doesn't have a gesture recognition as such, just a
simple shape recognition, and yes it makes annotating much more fluent (that is
why I'm asking for this feature).

There is an explanation of xournal's shape recognition here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/xournal/support-requests/6/

And there is a github mirror of the official repository (I am lost at
sourceforge) here: https://github.com/xournal/xournal/

Under this repository you can find the shape recognition algorithm here:
https://github.com/xournal/xournal/blob/master/src/xo-shapes.c

Also I've found an attempt at a rewrite of xournal in C++ called xournalpp:
https://github.com/xournalpp/xournalpp

and I think I remember it also uses shape recognition (I guess taken from
xournal) but for me it's a mess to install so I am not using it.

[okular] [Bug 401269] New: Shape recognition for the freehand line tool

2018-11-21 Thread Christos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401269

Bug ID: 401269
Summary: Shape recognition for the freehand line tool
   Product: okular
   Version: 1.5.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

SUMMARY

This is a feature request, I don't know if this is the right place for this,
but here it goes:

Add shape recognition for the freehand line tool: Drawing a circle creates a
perfect circle, a hand drawn line become a straight line, triangles and other
shapes are recognized.

Showing the bug on YouTube (vs xournal): https://youtu.be/ON_BP1YkJTU

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a .pdf file with okular
2. Start the freehand line annotation
3. Write something

Writing is rendered ok only after you finish writing.

It should look good as you write
