[OmniOS-discuss] NFS mounts seems as nobody on Centos6

2017-06-14 Thread Özkan Göksu
Hello.

I have a nfs share and zfs settings like= "sharenfs anon=root,rw=* "
When i mount it from Centos, owner changes as nobody. (yes im root on
Centos)
But in omnios or ubuntu i see as root when i mount it.

What is the cause of this problem?

Hello Stephan.

My english ain't good sorry for that.
Host responding and i dont see any problem but NFS & Cifs Shares not
responding..
I could not telnet because there was not enough time for test. Everything
is happening in 15-45 seconds.

@Artem Penner
Thank you for the command and link. I will do that next time.

I will update ofc but i can't shut down right now a storage unit..
Only 2 times in 5 months the problem occurred so i can not track the
problem. I should be ready to find out what it is next time.
I need to solve the issue completely and to solve the problem I need to
understand WHY its happening. Right now I have no idea...

BTW: while the problem occurs I tried to ping my server and Guess what? My
network alives.
BTW 2: I'm using active-active LACP. Could this be the reason?

[OmniOS-discuss] NFS & SMB connection freezes 30-40 second sometimes.

2017-05-25 Thread Özkan Göksu
Hello.

I use "omnios-r151020-b5b8c75" and I have small healthy ZFS storage (Zpool
status & Zfs list link )
The system has been running for about 5 months and 2 times the issue has
occurred.

SMB & NFS both freezes. All jobs are freezes. Vmware freezes.
If i try a new SMB or NFS connection its just waiting... It's like the
whole world is frozen.
But after 30-40 second.. Everything continues as it is and working
properly.

I did a very deep log search, but I could not find anything...
Dmesg clear,
/var/adm/messages clear..
/var/log/syslog clear..

There is not even one log!
Have you ever experienced this problem before?

[OmniOS-discuss] Why does samba use file permissions instead share permission?

2017-05-02 Thread Özkan Göksu
Hello.
I want to give Share permission to my cifs share but i guess unix only able
to give file permission like:
> /usr/bin/chmod -R A+group@:full_set:fd:allow pool/test

This is the bad way because i have couple of million file in some shares
and the job tooks almost days...
Every time i don't want to set every file in this directory.

> 1- File permission.
> 2- Share permission.

> If i use Share permission i dont need to set chmod every file or folder
in directory. it tooks few seconds with that way.

Can i use the share permission on solaris?

I installed omnios-r151020-4151d05.

I think you should add next release PKGIN, diskinfo, and maybe more disk
utility.
I'm tired every release installing these software besides almost everybody
needs...
I'm very sad about ending. Thank you for your all effort.
