move to containerized and cloud-native VNFs. That said there are 3 levels of
cloud native (pure EC2 VMs - unmanaged, platform as a service (beanstalk, rds,

[onap-discuss] [Integration] Use Arm machines for Integration project

2018-06-29 Thread Tina Tsou
Dear Helen and Integration team,

We are writing to invite you to use Arm machines for Integration Project.

There are individual Arm servers that are not running OpenStack, that can be
requested through automatic dash board for three weeks at a time.

The VPN credentials for Individual Arm servers are handed out automatically.
https://labs.opnfv.org/
When you reserve the machines, if the name of the machine is Arm45, for
example, the IP address of the machine will be 10.10.100.55 (just add 10 to the
server number). You will get an email with VPN credentials with password about
45 minutes after you reserve.

Any problem you have, feel free to contact Joe Kidder ^ ^

Hello Gerard,

I was able to install a number of ONAP microservices (containers) on the OD1000.

At the time, I couldn't make progress due to the lack of multi-arch images,
both on the official registry and ONAP's registry. Several folks at Arm have
been working on closing the gap.

Having said that, I just ran a quick sanity check. I attempted to run
rancher/server and got the dreaded "exec format error" which means the official
image is not yet multi-arch.

Still, the outcome of my attempt to install ONAP suggests that you will gain
more traction with an ONAP/Kubernetes install on the Arm pod using the process
proposed by the OOM
team.
Adolfo

Maybe initiate a discussion on these 2 mailing lists (ONAP and OPNFV-Auto), and
then arrange for an ad-hoc audio conference later this week ?

It seems the preferable direction is to aim for an ONAP/Kubernetes variant.

Adolfo, your name was mentioned about a successful (at least partially) install
of ONAP on Arm-based OD1000 (SoftIron OverDrive 1000). Would you be able to
chip in ? Is there a URL with info on that ONAP installation ?

The Arm-compatible VNFs can be either on K8S or OpenStack (as long as there are
enough resources on the Arm pod to have multiple co-existing environments). The
VNFs would have to be installed via ONAP (i.e. onboarded via SDC, and deployed
via VID), not via an installer.

DCAE does not run yet on K8S, but hopefully will at some point. The Resilience
Improvements tests need DCAE, because they require VI monitoring and CLAMP
closed loops enforcing: see
https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/AUTO/Auto+Use+Cases#AutoUseCases-UseCase2
with test pattern updated after today's Auto meeting (Monday Feb/19).

Best regards,
Gerard Damm

Hi Bryan,

we can discuss it after the demo or offline
As far as I understand Auto is the equivalent of OOM, i.e. a deployment of ONAP
based on kubernetes (but Auto is on OPNFV side) - do not hesitate to correct me
if I am wrong
it would be possible to indicate Auto as 1 of the ONAP installer and collect
the results of the tests
that is one of the interests to use the test API/Test DB independently from
jenkins. Several CI chains can push results to provide an aggregate view of E2E
Functional and later performance testing on ONAP.

and depending on the installer it is possible to customize the test list. For
example if you have additional test cases through VES or Model projects.

Harry,
   Hi, some comments.
The nginx containers – we are not deploying these, since they are in the
default namespace they don’t look part of a normal rancher setup as well – I am
curious where these 2 pods came from and why you would need a reverse proxy –
also verify you are running rancher on 8880 to avoid 80/8080 conflicts with
these.
I am suspicious of this reverse proxy – I would expect your forwarding
issues stem from these 2 servers – normally used to manage a private subnet –
they might not be handling IPV6 traffic (I remember an issue with this in
general from a couple years ago)

  0 1d
default nginx-deployment-431080787-9nswb 1/1 Running
  0 1d

I would recommend you run on Ubuntu 16.04 not 14 – may work OK but all our
examples assume 16 and we have not tested 14 (note that I had issues with 17).
In a build before last Saturday – I did see the same 3 pods fail to come up
vnc-portal, sdc-be and sdc-fe – make sure you have pulled from master this week
- (try a git pull) – then reset your config pod via the following if any new
content comes in.
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/ONAP+on+Kubernetes#ONAPonKubernetes-Delete/Rerunconfig-initcontainerfor/dockerdata-nfsrefresh

The aai-gremlin pod is not required and can be ignored for now – but it
normally starts up – see the OOM-Kubernetes status section on

https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/ONAP+master+branch+Stabilization#ONAPmasterbranchStabilization-20170907:OOMKubernetes

 thank you

Hi Michael

Here the environment info:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS

I didn’t check the pod status after I saw the Error message. Seems this ipv6
error didn't stop pod creating process maybe this error only leads to no ipv6

[onap-discuss] [Auto] Re: [OOM] Kubernetes version to be used as reference

2017-08-17 Thread Tina Tsou
Dear OOMers,

It seems that ONAP OOM provides an ONAP installer script using Kubernetes, and
you can deploy individual ONAP components with it. Would you share more details
on it?

Thank you,
Tina

Hi Jerome,

In general I strongly support going to the latest stable version at the
beginning of a project like this one.

To refine this a bit, Rancher seems to be a popular choice for management of
the infrastructure and it is heavily integrated to Kubernetes so we should
consider it too. The Rancher v1.6.6 release notes
  state that Kubernetes
1.7.2 is supported; are you recommending Rancher v1.6.6+ and Kubernetes 1.7.2+?

Thanks,
Roger

Subject: [onap-discuss] [OOM] Kubernetes version to be used as reference

Hi,

as we are using kubernetes to run ONAP containers, we are developing kubernetes
manifests to describe the resources required by the ONAP components and the
environment where we are running them on.

Some kubernetes resources we are referring to in the manifests are valid only
in some kubernetes versions or the way to refer to those resources is specific
to particular versions, taking into account the evolution as the kubernetes API.

So to keep the valuable material the community is bringing valid as long as
possible, and as we are at the beginning of the ONAP on kubernetes story, my
proposal would be to try to start with the most recent stable version of
kubernetes (i.e. 1.7) and base the kubernetes manifests on the version 1.7 API
reference.

It will also allow us to use the latest features of kubernetes to operate ONAP.

Could you please give some feedback on that.

Thanks

Jerome

Re: [onap-discuss] Open lab meeting now

2017-08-16 Thread Tina Tsou
Dear Chengli,

Thank you for getting back to me.

Brian H. and I have some questions for Open Lab team.
What is the status on the WindRiver Dev2Dev lab and the T-lab?
Have they been fully specified?
Have these labs and their specifications/status been discussed in the OpenLab
subcommittee?

If yes, would you share the URL here?
