[Oorexx-devel] Creating, Modifying ODF-files with ooRexx ...
Hi there, the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) received OpenOffice (AOO) and the so-called ODF toolkit for incubation. AOO has been promoted to an accepted, top-level ASF project. OpenOffice/AOO/LibreOffice stores the documents in the standardized ODF format and serves as a GUI editor for these file types. The ODF toolkit is a totally independent set of functionalities implemented in a Java class library. Using BSF4ooRexx Java gets camouflaged as ooRexx and therefore one can use ooRexx to create or modify ODF documents. Of course, due to the AOO/OpenOffice/LibreOffice support built-into BSF4ooRexx one is also able to directly interact with AOO to create/modify ODF documents. A student, Günter Mayer, has created an introductionary proof-of-concept work which explains and demonstrates how to interact with the ODF toolkit and take advantage of AOO for specific AOO functionality (like creating a PDF rendering of an ODF document). His work can be downloaded (PDF document plus his code that he explains in the document) from: http://wi.wu.ac.at/rgf/diplomarbeiten/. As you will see by looking through the code (one little ooRexx program that can be executed without a change in the code on Linux, MacOSX and Windows!), it can be quite easy to use this infrastructure. Also es gibt einen Installation Guide Kann man (kannst du) ein kurzes Rexx programm schreiben das sagt was da ist bzw. was fehlt. Mich aufzufordern ooRexx zu installieren ist irgendwie überflüssig!
