[OPEN-ILS-DEV] Z39.50 target

2008-05-24 Thread Grant Johnson
OK -
I know there isn't a z39.50 target right now... and the road map says 1.4
Summer '08, but I've got 2 weeks! :-)
So...
Anyone have any ideas in setting up a gateway, or something, to act as a target
Z39.50 server for Interlibrary Loan and Federated search until it's integrated
into EG?

How about a Alpha/Beta of the Z server?

Cheers

Re: [OPEN-ILS-DEV] PATCH: re-open client window

2008-05-24 Thread Jason Etheridge
The attached will provide a Open New Window button to the staff login
window, for those times when you blindly close it behind yourself. I wasn't
sure where it should fit, so I've just dropped it next to the About button,
with a gentle reminder to Login first if there's no current session.

Huzzah! Applied with thanks to trunk, rel_1_2, and rel_1_2_2. Works
as advertised.

This is the first time I've officially submitted anything, so if this is not
the correct format/procedure, you know where to find me.

I think we want to push people toward including a linux-style
Developer's Certificate of Origin statement as mentioned here:
http://open-ils.org/documentation/contributing.html#Submitting%20a%20Patch

But I'm personally happy with implied licenses for things like this,
and I can't imagine this code came from say, SCO Unix. ;)

Thanks again, and if you want to tackle other low hanging fruit, let us know!

Hey Grant, do you just need to expose bib records via Z39.50? You
could always try the time-honored workaround of exporting data and
using an external application (see Yaz and Zebra from
http://indexdata.com/). There's even an atom feed in Evergreen where
you can pull bib data for new titles as they're added. I imagine it
would be easy to add one for record deletions, or you could query the
db periodically.

This is just off the top of my head. You might be able to backport
the SRU functionality from trunk and layer a Z39.50 translation
service on top of it, but we'll need Mike to chime in on that.
