Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Circulation Policy Issue

2014-06-13 Thread Joan Kranich
Hi,

For patrons that normally have a semester long due date, I have set the
circulation policy for shorter loans with a hard due date of Always Use set to
False. The Duration Rule is the actual length of the loan. I hope that helps.
Circulate in our policies is set to True but that may vary depending on the
overall setup of your policies.

Still struggling with getting circulation policies set up beyond our Hard Due
Dates for any users or even all users. Trying to get a 2 hour check out for
reference but it keeps inheriting the check out of a hard due date even
though I tell it to use the 2 hour and the Hard due date is blank in the policy
page. I believe our original default entry was deleted at one point. I
believe we have re-added a Consortium wide default of 28 days but that it not
what my reference policy is doing. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. I am not getting any errors, just the hard due date. I have set
the Circulation Modifier to 2 Hour, the Location to Reference...reading and
re-reading how to set up policies by adjusting the category that is different
from the defaultseems like it is picking up a none existent default...

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] FWIW Evergreen Koha sites

2014-06-13 Thread Bob Neeper
I watch Marshall Breeding's Library Automation Industry News site for Evergreen
news.

http://www.librarytechnology.org/news.pl

Interestingly, for every new Evergreen location there are probably at least 4 or
5 new Koha sites.

Marshall has two maps showing 1364 Evergreen vs. 2103 Koha.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Vandelay Import and On Order records

2014-06-13 Thread Mary Llewellyn
Hi Michael,

We don't create the on-order items during a load in this way, so I'm not
sure how helpful I can be. But one question occurs to me: is there anything
in the MARC record you are loading that indicates how many copies were
ordered? I know when manually working with a selection list or PO, the
defaults we set don't kick in until a lineitem copy is established.

I hope you hear from others with good advice.

I'll echo Jason's sentiment, I'm glad to see open source growing. I
wouldn't read too much into a difference in numbers between Koha and
Evergreen. They are different creatures that will appeal to different
libraries for different reasons.

Now, I will be much more interested in comparing Evergreen's current
numbers to adoption rates after the new staff client goes live.

I'd be curious to see how the proprietary ILSs are doing in comparison.
For every new Evergreen or Koha site, some pay-to-play company is
realizing that they should have done a better job. Ditto Jason's sentiment.

2014-06-13 Thread St. John, Leslie
Hi Michael and all,

Although we are only in the testing phase I have discovered when uploading
records using the Acquisitions Load MARC Order Records that default barcode
prefix and call numbers are applied to copies when the line item is ordered.
So the purchase order has to be activated before those defaults are applied. I
can't say if Vandelay's catalog interface would operate any differently since
we haven't gone that route yet. but this may be a clue for you. We are on 2.5.1
