[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Evergreen 2.10-beta ready for testing

2016-03-03 Thread Galen Charlton
Hi,

The beta release of Evergreen 2.10 is now available from

https://evergreen-ils.org/egdownloads/

Draft release notes can be found at:

https://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/previews/RELEASE_NOTES_2_10_beta.html

A complete list of changes can be found at:

https://evergreen-ils.org/downloads/previews/ChangeLog-2.9.2-2.10-beta

I strongly encourage folks to test the beta release, both as fresh
installations and as upgrades of test database. As this is a beta
release, it should not be used to upgrade a production Evergreen
database, and there will be no guaranteed direct upgrade path from
2.10-beta to the final release of 2.10.0.

Regards,

Galen

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Excluding a single library from consortium scoped action trigger notice

2016-03-03 Thread Thomas Berezansky
One option is to make a *user* preference that has to be set for the
notices to go out. While that won't get you library level exclusion
alone you could use a cron job to set/unset the preference based on
home ou.

Quoting Brent Mills :

Has anyone had success excluding one org unit from an otherwise
consortium scoped action trigger notice?

We have one library that wants to opt-out of the 30 Day Account
Pre-Expiration Notice, but everyone else would like to keep it.
There's probably an easier way than creating individual notice
templates for every library except the one that wants out...right?

Thank you,

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Next documentation re-organization meeting

2016-03-03 Thread Jane Sandberg
Thanks for helping to identify a time for our next docs re-org
meeting, all! We'll be meeting next Monday, March 7, at 11am Pacific

The agenda is here:
http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=evergreen-docs:reorg_2014:agenda_2016-03-07

I think we'll spend a good chunk of time talking about our progress,

for front-line circ staff and local sysadmins.

Looking forward to having you there!

However, in the interest of keeping the discussion focused while also
hearing multiple viewpoints, I think we want to strive for 5 - 10
people participating in each chat. If several time slots work for you,
and you see one has fewer participants than the others, please go with
the one with fewer participants so we can have balanced attendance
along all of the chat sessions.

for Evergreen search are. We view search as one of the most
important pieces of the ILS, if not the most important. It's what
allows our users to find those resources we spend so much time
cataloging so that they can then place holds on them, check them out
from the library, or access them in some other way.

I left the hack-a-way with an action item to start a larger
community discussion where we could identify some high-level goals
for what we want Evergreen search to be and where we could define
what we consider to be important factors in search relevance.

I would like to start this discussion with some focus-group-like
discussions in IRC where community members could identify the
features they like about the current search and where they see room
for improvement. My hope is that these discussions can help us
define what we consider to be an ideal search system for Evergreen
and allow the dev community to explore options for making that ideal
search system happen.

I think the discussions will work best if they are not too large, so
I anticipate scheduling two or three or more depending on interest.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out the Doodle

I have also talked to Yamil Suarez about scheduling some "Intro to

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] First Bug Squashing Day of 2016

2016-03-03 Thread Kathy Lussier

Hi Scott,

Welcome to the Bug Squashing team!

1. Yes, you can test the fix on 2.9 as long as the bug is one that
affects 2.9. When you report back on the bug, you might want to mention
which release you tested it on.

2. Yes, once you're done you can either note any problems you found on
the Launchpad bug or, if it looks good to you, you can sign off on the
bug. There are two ways to sign off on the bug:

- If you're comfortable with git, you can perform a git sign off
following the instructions at
http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=dev:git#sign-offs
- Otherwise, you can sign off on a bug by adding this exact text as a
comment: "“I have tested this code and consent to signing off on it with
my name, [enter name or consistent alias] and my email address, [enter
email address].” Also, add a signoff tag to the bug because it's an easy
way for core committers to find bugs that have already gone through some
level of testing.

It's not required, but I also recommend that you assign yourself to the
bug before testing it so that others know you are looking at it. It's no
problem if two people test the same bug, but it helps reduce duplication
of work.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!
Kathy
