Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Evergreen access via Google?

That all said, I suppose one potential danger of having bots freely
scan over your site is that if they get too busy with indexing your
site's contents, they can overwhelm and cause interruptions in your
ability to use Evergreen. This happened to us at least once before,
where some indexer in China scanned our whole catalog and tried to
index every page causing us to run out of system resources trying to
serve up all the content it was requesting.

Disclaimer: I'm a lurker who is very interested in and hopeful for
Evergreen's success. Our site currently uses a proprietary ILS.

I don't know whether an Evergreen site has yet done this, but FWIW,
another approach is to sign up for OCLC's WorldCat Local (to be
rebranded WorldCat Discovery) service. Among the (apparently
less-known) features included is web-scale discovery. OCLC makes its
records discoverable via Google and other search services. These in
turn -- via WCL -- are linked in real-time to availability information
in subscribers' ILSes.

Adolescence -- in people and in things -- is something through which
we all must live. I wonder if we've all forgotten the adolescences of
AACR2 and MARC? Probably many aren't senior enough to have been
around then! :)

I have a similar attitude to you about Bibframe. Is this where
we're headed? I'm not sure, but surely we've got to move on

wish we could have avoided this awkward adolescent RDA in MARC
 stage, though.

Now this is the Book that Toby made when she lived among us. See,
I am showing you. She made these words on a /page/, and a page is
made of /paper/. She made the words with /writing/, that she marked
down with a stick called a /pen/, with black fluid called /ink/, and
she made the /pages/ join together at one side, and that is called a
/book/. See, I am showing you. This is the Book, these are the Pages,
here is the Writing.

 Any clues?

How about this:

We're all constantly being told that we want our apps personalized.
Perhaps you are witnessing EG's attempt to do just that!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

First time poster here, so please forgive what is likely a silly newbie

For those of us who are new to or simply evaluating Evergreen, would you
mind providing a q+d resume of why XULRunner is no longer considered a
viable long-term option as a software platform?

Many thanks!

And my favorite request for the year was to change the call number of
something in the PNs to the Zs -- because we don't have any more room
in the PNs. And no one wants to shift books in order to accommodate.
