Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Error message when trying to import a bib record via39.50

2012-02-25 Thread John R. Clark

Hi folks,

I can now say with reasonable accuracy that my problem was the result of
a 520 field that Evergreen did not like. I generally catalog my records
in Innovative's Millennium software as we're part of the statewide
library consortium here in Maine. Once they have been added to MaineCat
(130.111.64.9), I import them into our Maine Balsam consortium. I had
another bib this morning that I added a rather lengthy 520 to and it
choked when I tried importing it. Once I went back into Millennium and
removed the 520, it came in slick as a smelt. I added the 520 to both
records and life was good again. Hope this is helpful to others.

Hey John~

This happened to me the other day. Try pulling from another site. I
just tested LOC and it worked. I unclicked everything the other day
then picked fewer sites.

Not sure WHY it is happening. M

Quoting John R. Clark be...@tds.net:

Good evening,

I was working along merrily as you please, cataloging books this
evening, when I ran into a bib record that refused to play nice. I
tried importing by ISBN, then by author to no avail. I've looked the
original bib record over carefully, but there are no foreign
characters or punctuation marks (things that usually stop me from
bringing in a record). Each time I get the following error message:
server error: request returned null.

The record is for 9781934609866 The Faces of Angels by Lucretia
Grindle. I'm trying to import it from Maine Infonet (130.111.64.9)
We're using Evergreen version 2.0.9. Any help in figuring out
what's causing the problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
