CCNP (5-7 years experience)- Location:Portland, OR Duration:3 month CCNP with 5-7 years experience ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (functions with percent of time spent performing function) System Operations – 35% Maintain a comprehensive level of specialized knowledge in one or more related technical disciplines. Proactively monitor the network systems to maximize uptime of the network and respond in a timely manner to problems affecting internal, as well as external clients. Maintain awareness of system issues with the enterprise network, as well as other IT and Business units to assist with the development of client/business discussion points and internal upgrade considerations. Develop a generalist level of understanding of all network systems to assist in a support role, if required, as well as a subject matter expertise in specific systems as identified. Participates in an on-call rotation, with late night and weekend work as required. Projects and Documentation – 35% Create appropriate documentation from technical discussion and project efforts to include: Physical Network Architecture diagrams. Virtual Network Architecture diagrams. Application and associated systems attached to the enterprise network. Configuration details necessary to support the installation of the enterprise network and associated management tools. Business requirements and expectations as they pertain to the network systems. Perform site walkthroughs and client interviews for information gathering to assist with the development of estimates and project success. Lead or provide a technical project management role on medium projects from concept to completion using defined project management techniques to capture work effort, timeline, milestones and assigned resources for tracking purposes. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Typically a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience in a related discipline. Typically between five to seven years of previous network experience. Working knowledge of networking topologies, routing and switching protocols, wireless networks, firewalls, VPN’s, unified communications, network management and cable plant systems. Knowledge of best practices relating to network design and implementation including network protocols, subnetting/address schemas, DNS, DHCP, and Proxy Services. Knowledge of virtual machine and server related technologies, as well as unified/voice and video systems including quality of service, multicast and their impact to unified/voice and video systems on a data network Capable of making presentations typically to peers and other technical professionals. Ability to work as a self-directed member of the team with minimal supervision, seeking out guidance as needed.
