•BS or Associates Degree in computer science, computer engineering
or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience

•2+ years experience designing and implementing applications in a
multi-tenant large datacenter environment and/or cloud computing
environment.

•Technical competence in the needed technical areas: Java, J2EE,
and Spring, REST services, Unix/Linux, Shell scripting

•Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), XML, SOAP

•Has solid understanding of the SDLC process and follows the
process to effectively develop and design solutions

•Demonstrates excellent analytical and problem solving skills

•Ability to handle/manage multiple simultaneous priorities,
deadlines, and deliverables.

•Maintains knowledge of leading security engineering trends in
order to evaluate solutions to meet changing security needs

•Excellent verbal and written presentation and communications
skills.

•Experience creating technical documentation, including product
documentation, technical frameworks and process best practices.

•Experience with some type of source control tools

•Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical
issues.

•Strong verbal and written communication skills.

•Exposure to Agile software development

We have an immediate opening at the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance
(OCI) for a Java Developer. OCI is a small state agency responsible for
regulating the insurance industry to ensure they are responsibly and
adequately meeting the insurance needs of Wisconsin citizens. Our office is
located in scenic downtown Madison one block from the Capitol square.
This position would work on small teams to implement various projects for
the agency. The core technology being used includes* Java, Spring
(modules=MVC, WebFlow, Security, Batch, Web Services), JPA, Hibernate,
Oracle, Tomcat, and JIRA. *

*Responsibilities*
Participate as a Java developer on small development teams.
Provide technical support to project team members.
Develop and test business applications using the following technologies
*: Java, Spring, Hibernate, JPA, Oracle, Tomcat, Tiles, Maven, Subversion,
Artifactory, JSP, JQuery, Jenkins, Alfresco, OpenOffice, and Enterprise
Architect. *Develop applications using continuous integration and

Take initiative to research and learn new technologies.
Work with business customers to gather requirements and document use cases
