Description: 
The Quality Assurance Test Lead is responsible for execution and delivery of 
quality assurance activities which ensure that critical University applications 
function appropriately. This position is expected to understand the 
functionality 
of the applications being tested and to work in partnership with functional 
areas, technical teams, and testing specialists to establish and run effective 
testing processes. This position will perform hands-on work as well as provide 
direction to other resources. 
Principal Responsibilities: 
• Establish effective testing processes for enhancements, maintenance, and 
defect correction. 
• Prepare a variety of deliverables, including test approach, test plan, test 
scenarios, and defect tracking. Develop test scenarios and test cases. 
• Acquire business domain expertise, and lead identification of specific 
testing 
activities needed, including functional, regression, platform, performance, 
and load testing. Identify candidates for automation. 
• Provide direction to other resources participating in the testing process. 
Ensure that the work done by other resources is of high quality. 
• Plan and schedule test iterations, manage execution, and manage defect triage 
processes. Execute Test Cases and record defects. Prepare and publish Test 
Metrics. 
• Coordinate with project managers, developers, functional areas, and testing 
specialists. 
Experience and Training: 
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and a minimum 
of five years experience in IT Quality Assurance in a leadership role, or an 
equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Ability to rapidly build knowledge of application business area and of 
application 
requirements. 
• Thorough knowledge of testing principles and concepts, and experience 
designing, 
planning, and executing tests. Ability to write well-articulated test plans 
and test scripts. Ability to clearly document defects and to follow through 
on resolution. 
• Ability to positively manage work in a dynamic environment. 
• Ability to articulate open issues and risks in a timely manner to management. 
• Experience with automation and reporting tools such as HP Quality 
Center/Application 
Lifecycle Management. 


Skills and Abilities: 
1. Excellent customer service skills. 
2. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, management and 
analytical skills. 
3. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to and to work with 
people from a variety of disciplines.
