Re: [opendx-users] import data file

2003-10-28 Thread Henning Waack
Hello David and all the others.

You need to use the data prompter to describe your data. You can
start it directly by typing dx -prompter at the command line.

 David

Thanks for your help, the import worked. I now have a ImportSpreadsheet,
with all my data. What I now want to do is to create a Parallel Coordinate
System. But I am totally swamped with this task. Can someone give me a hint?

Thanks in advanced again.

Henning

 Dear all.

I am very new to OpenDX. I have to do a assignment for university, there
 are
only few days left, and I have some major problems. I am stuck at the
 very
beginning, trying to import some data. My data file looks like this:

 Date Hour S/C_Distance S/C_Latitude S/C_Longitude Plasma_Velocity
 Plasma_Density Plasma_Temperature
 10195.00 0.00 44.75 -13.10 210.84 0.00 0.00
 0.00
 10195.00 1.00 44.75 -13.10 210.84 0.00 0.00
 0.00
 10195.00 2.00 44.75 -13.10 210.84 0.00 0.00
 0.00

But I just can't make the import function like it. Could you please help
 me
and tell me what I have to do/click, to import this data.

 Thanks in advance

 bye

 Henning

[opendx-users] Why does openDX(cygwin) want Internet access ?

2003-10-28 Thread Allen H. Nugent

Dear DX'ers,

Could some one please tell me why various openDX processes want Internet
access (when I launch DX) and at what point it is safe to disconnect?

Some of these processes are: STARTUPUI.EXE, TUTOR.EXE, DXUI.EXE, DXEXEC.EXE.

Re: [opendx-users] Why does openDX(cygwin) want Internet access ?

2003-10-28 Thread David Thompson
This is do to the fact that it is trying to connect via a socket
(communication between the exec and the ui). What you can do is set
the environment variable DXHOST to unix, and this may tell it to not
use the socket. You should be able to disconnect from the Internet at
any time after it starts.
