[OpenIndiana-discuss] oi_151a update?
Hi all, Today I have run GUI Update Manager in oi_151a, and it has found 871 updated packages, 186.17 Mb in total. I wonder why this update was not announced at OI website nor mailing list? After installing the updates and rebooting into new BE, and after login, all that appeared is black mouse pointer on white background :( Luckily that was a test OI installation under VirtualBox, and luckily I was able to boot into previous BE. I have a production server under oi_151a also, and I will not update it for a while. Can someone clarify the unannounced update? - Dmitry. P.S. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! ___ OpenIndiana-discuss mailing list OpenIndiana-discuss@openindiana.org http://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss

Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] oi_151a update?
Thanks. Now I see. Successfully updated to oi_151a2, but only after switching off visual effects. Cannot switch them back in oi_151a2 (white screen). On the plus side, fonts are looking much sharper than in oi_151a (FreeType improved?). - Dmitry. On 14.02.2012 19:25, Jeppe Toustrup wrote: The update has been announced on the oi-dev mailing list. Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] onu broken today for oi_151a
the traditional reason to back publish or republish package/pkg has been to fix bugs affecting upgrade, so this is intentional, though perhaps outdated. Its not a bug anywhere, though it'd be nice if onu checked ahead of time somehow to save trouble. Workarounds. - update pkg in the current BE. - disable the openindiana publisher temporarily in the current be (set-publisher -d) - pkg -R /tmp/onu.* image-update -fto do the update by hand and the activate the new BE. -- Rich ___ OpenIndiana-discuss mailing list OpenIndiana-discuss@openindiana.org http://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss
Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] source repository down?
Does anyone know how to log in and clone the Mercurial repository with hg? I have tried to follow the intructions at http://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/Source+Repositories but I don't have the path /data/export/wombat on my system nor am I capable of creating such a path as per the instructions on the wiki page so I just issue the command: # hg clone -U ssh://a...@hg.opensolaris.org/hg/wombat/source /mystoragepool/wombat but then it asks for a password that seems to be unknown. I also don't have the user hg but I don't see why it should be necessary to have one. I have cloned git trees and I have a slight memory of doing something mercurial on Linux but I cannot recall that I had any issues with it. On 2012-02-14 15:50, Reginald Beardsley wrote: Fixed. That guide you have found is a bit of in regards what you likely want. If you just want to check out a source repository from http://hg.openindiana.org/, then you just need to run a command like this: hg clone http://hg.openindiana.org/oi-build/ That example is for the oi-build repository, which will then be put into a folder named oi-build under your current working directory. Switch the URL to the repository in order to check out another repository. -- Venlig hilsen / Kind regards Jeppe Toustrup (aka. [OpenIndiana-discuss] 4k sectors again
Hi all Seems most drives are moving to 512-bytes-on-4k-sectors these days, as with the new 7K4000 drives from Hitachi. I saw a patch for zpool some time back, fixing ashift, but that's all. If the drive reports its block size as 4K ZFS will do the right thing already. Only drives that lie about the actual block size and report 512 bytes are problematic. For such drives the technique I found useful is to create a pool on some other devices that are true 4K and then replace the devices one by one with the problematic drives. COMSTAR comes really handy for such a trick. Also Linux ZFS let you specify ashift manually during pool creation. -- Regards, Cyril ___ OpenIndiana-discuss mailing list OpenIndiana-discuss@openindiana.org http://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss
