Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] boot failure
Hallo Christian, tnx for mentioning that you were running OpenSXCE 2014.05 x86/x64 so far and tnx for your past donations from back then ;) (as honestly and 100% transparently listed in http://svr4.opensxce.org/sparc/RELEASE_NOTES__OpenSXCE2013.05SPARC.txt ) Now, it would be more helpful than some smbios output to know where exactly Hipster stops on your Netbook and why, could you perhaps post serial console (via USB) output from a kernel backtrace after booting with -kdvs ? Or upload a video (or at least photo) of the moment when the "doesn't boot" event happens? p.s, Maybe it helps you if you set SATA mode to IDE-legacy in Bios? Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] boot failure
Hi, " have an old netbook where I had installed OpenSolaris and later on I had upgraded to the second release of OpenIndiana. The system is a bit slow (it has an atom processor) but it is OK for basic things. Recently, I downloaded the latest OpenIndiana DVD, the one with MATE + KMS, and I tried to boot from the DVD. The process stops while detecting the mouse and this is really strange. See the following URL" We noticed this and working on the fix. Which netbook do you have? You initially tested withHipster 2016.04 ISO ?? Your screenshot is gone from that website, but I saw it before it was deleted... ~K On Tuesday, August 30, 2016 8:57 AM, Apostolos Syropoulos via openindiana-discusswrote: Hello, I have an old netbook where I had installed OpenSolaris and later on I had upgraded to the second release of OpenIndiana. Now that we found a solution to Christopher's problem can anybody please let me know what is wrong with Illumos and my netbook? BTW, I tried to send this message to illumos-discuss but the message seems to go to /dev/null I sent a message to the list with no body and it was posted! I would therefore appreciate it if anyone who follows this list could post the message to that list. -- Apostolos Syropoulos Xanthi, Greece ___ openindiana-discuss mailing list openindiana-discuss@openindiana.org https://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss
Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] boot failure
Christopher, I'd advise migrating your data and applications to a new install rather than upgrading. The key supported installations are: 1. oi_151a8 - http://dlc.openindiana.org/isos/151a8/2. hipster 2016.04.21 - http://dlc.openindiana.org/isos/hipster/ We'd rather you not lose any data or application support - so migrate to hipster first and see how that goes. ~ Ken On Wednesday, August 31, 2016 6:36 AM, Christopher Robinson via openindiana-discusswrote: Jim, Wow! I could try the directions on upgrading to 134 on the OI "Upgrading from Open Solaris" page from the control console, but I am doubtful that will work.
