[OpenIndiana-discuss] [CFT] Xorg 1.18.4 update repository

2016-10-04 Thread Aurélien Larcher
Hi,
I am happy to announce that we have prepared a repository with updated X11 bits:

http://pkg.openindiana.org/xorg-testing/

On the menu:

... a handful of libraries and apps updated,
... Xorg 1.18.4, TurboVNC refreshed with Xorg 1.18,
... some drivers bumps,
... and CVEs picked fresh from the market today.

Find below a short article about the repository and instructions to
install the packages:

https://www.openindiana.org/2016/10/04/call-for-testing-repository-with-xorg-1-18-4-now-available/

Many thanks to Martin for his hard work on drm/i915, of course to
Alexander, Ken, Adam, and also to Alan and the Solaris team with whom
I have been playing catch up in the past months in order to
migrate/update the X11 gate in oi-userland.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.
Kind regards

Aurélien

[OpenIndiana-discuss] Kernel panic

2016-10-04 Thread Apostolos Syropoulos via openindiana-discuss
Today I saw the following:

Oct 4 15:26:18 adalind savecore: [ID 570001 auth.error] reboot after panic:

assertion failed: (vp->v_count > 0) && (vp->v_count_dnlc > 0), file:
../../common/fs/vnode.c, line: 852

Does anybody have any idea what this is about?

A.S.

Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] USB3 devices needed for driver testing

2016-10-04 Thread Maurilio Longo via openindiana-discuss

Hi Adam,

I have a Dell PowerEdge T330 with usb3 ports and SS (usb 3.1?) ports.

None of them works.

Regards.

Maurilio.

Adam Števko wrote:

Hello folks,

there is an ongoing work on USB3 support in illumos and we should participate
in testing. OI community can provide good testing background as I bet there is
plenty of USB3 hardware.

I’d like to create a list of person (email), device and driver, so we have that
ready when actual driver testing comes. Any exotic USB3 device or peripheral
will help.

So if anybody is interested in helping, please respond to this email. I’d also
gladly ask others to not debate off-topic stuff in this thread. Thanks for
understanding!

Cheers,
Adam

You have yet much to learn in the ways of google-fu ;)
I loooed for keywords from last email, "klimov advanced livecd rpool" sufficed
for top 3

https://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/Advanced+-+Manual+installation+of+OpenIndiana+from+LiveCD+media

These might be tangentially helpful:

https://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/Advanced+-+Creating+an+rpool+manually

https://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/Advanced+-+Creating+aligned+rpool+partitions

It seems OI wiki site lags at the moment... or my internet does... There should
be copies in google cache, archive.org and on my github (illumos-articles repo).

Good luck in the endeavour,
Jim
