[tickets] [opensaf:tickets] #833 MDS: possibility to change mds_tipc_prefix in runtime
- **Milestone**: 4.6.FC -- future --- ** [tickets:#833] MDS: possibility to change mds_tipc_prefix in runtime** **Status:** unassigned **Milestone:** future **Created:** Thu Apr 03, 2014 06:22 AM UTC by Hans Feldt **Last Updated:** Tue Aug 19, 2014 09:17 AM UTC **Owner:** nobody Use case: TIPC still lacks name space support, in order to run two logical nodes on the same TIPC core, the MDS_TIPC_PREFIX can be used to provide a kind of name space separation on MDS level. The MDS_TIPC_PREFIX is part of the TIPC port name type. One problem is that MDS_TIPC_PREFIX is a compile time constant which disallows sharing binaries in the different logical nodes. The enhancement is just about allowing to configure the mds_tipc_prefix with e.g. an environment variable. note: It has not yet been verified if the proposal actually works! Hi Hans , What would be the use case , running multiple insistence of Opensaf on A single node ? -AVM On 4/3/2014 11:52 AM, Hans Feldt wrote: *[tickets:#833] http://sourceforge.net/p/opensaf/tickets/833/ MDS: possibility to change mds_tipc_prefix in runtime* *Status:* unassigned *Milestone:* 4.5.FC *Created:* Thu Apr 03, 2014 06:22 AM UTC by Hans Feldt *Last Updated:* Thu Apr 03, 2014 06:22 AM UTC *Owner:* nobody Use case: TIPC still lacks name space support, in order to run two logical nodes on the same TIPC core, the MDS_TIPC_PREFIX can be used to provide a kind of name space separation on MDS level. Re: [tickets] [opensaf:tickets] #833 MDS: possibility to change mds_tipc_prefix in runtime
Yes multiple instances on the same TIPC core that should not talk to/see each other. The change is trivial and is about to be tested. /Hans On 04/03/2014 10:07 AM, A V Mahesh wrote: Hi Hans , What would be the use case , running multiple insistence of Opensaf on A single node ?
