Exactly. Mascot's are cool. Lets get one.

This isn't about moving away from OpenStack. The only reason I wanted a
custom theme was to:

1) Display the mascot

2) Provide a custom header for our TripleO specific things. For
starters I've got a custom ReviewDay report with all TripleO specific
reviews along with the TripleO CI status report we've found so useful.

Looks something like this ATM:

https://twitter.com/dovetaildan/status/648270765972832256/photo/1

In short think of the tripleo.org theme as a lense into the TripleO
world upstream. It is only meant to guide you back to all of the
upstream OpenStack goodness that already exists.

Yes. Exactly the same content with just a custom header to link to some
TripleO specific reports that our upstream community finds useful.

The sample site I have currently refreshes every 7 or so minutes.
Basically you'd get new tripleo-docs content, new reviewday reviews,
and an updated CI report on each refresh.

Because mascot's are cool? Because we can? We don't have to have a
custom theme but I'd just as soon have one. I mean oslo has a moose,
Ironic has got a bear, perhaps TripleO needs an owl? Or something :)

This isn't about stepping away from upstream. Just a simple way to
organize upstream resources specific to the TripleO project in a new
fashion. A different way to slice into the project...

Yes. I added this section I think. I think perhaps that is something we
could add later if we choose.

Sure. This would require a bit more infrastructure but we could use the
domain for this sort of thing too.

docs.openstack.org is great too. We already use that for many things
and we aren't moving away from it. The only reason I wanted to include
tripleo-docs in this new themed site was simply that it highlights the
content a bit more. Front and central content w/ our mascot would be
quite nice... Just a different way to cut into TripleO...

tripleo.openstack.org would be cool too (perhaps in addition to
tripleo.org even). Having both point to the same thing would work quite
nice I think.

As for hosting tripleo.org I'm initially planning on hosting it outside
of Infra. I had previously asked about infra hosting the DNS domain
here and it sounded like the domain might not be the best fit:

http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-infra/2015-May/002776.ht
ml

Moving it to be infra managed would be fine too. I've got no issues
with that should we agree that is the best place for it.

If you're looking at Project Infrastructure/Upstream CI integration
with that site, I encourage you to just move remaining content to
docs.openstack.org or possibly implement rewrites to something like
tripleo.openstack.org. We've been doing the same for other "vanity"
domains (see recent moves of devstack.org, refstack.org,
trystack.org) so that we can get everything under a common base
domain unless there is an actual technical requirement to have a
separate domain (e.g. the cross-domain browser security concerns
which drove us to register openstackid.org for our OpenID
authentication).

Would the content of tripleo-docs be exactly the same as what is
published at http://docs.openstack.org/developer/tripleo-docs/ ?

I think it probably should be, and be updated on every merged commit.
If that's not the case, I think it should be abundantly clear why
someone might would use one set of docs over the other.

I'm not sure about why we'd want a different theme. Is it just so that
it's styled the same as the rest of tripleo.org?

+1 to everything else. I had put what to do with tripleo.org on the
tokyo etherpad. Someone (not sure who) also suggested:

* collaborative blogging
* serve upstream generated overcloud images?

I like both of those ideas as well. For the blogging, maybe we could
parse the rss feed from planet.openstack.org and pick out the TripleO
stuff somehow.

We could even host some of these things on tripleo.org (not just link to
them)

+1 from me, the more content, articles etc... we can get up ther the
better as long as we keep at it and it doesn't go stale.

Note that there's a TripleO Inbox Dashboard linked toward the bottom of
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/TripleO#Review_team (It should probably
be higher up than that, since it's incredibly useful). This is actually
what I use for tracking TripleO reviews, and would be a simple thing to
start with for this.

I like the mascot/logo idea. Not sure why we would want to deviate from
the standard OpenStack docs theme though. What is your motivation for
suggesting that?

Also, if we get a mascot I want t-shirts. ;-)

[openstack-dev] [TripleO] tripleo.org theme
