We had a nice meeting today and caught up on some of our plans/intentions for the web site backend. Long ago we knew that a basically static site with assets listed in a YAML would not last for long. It's already causing issues with respect to versions and updates, and makes determining when things were added really cumbersome.
Over the next few weeks we will be transitioning to using flask for the backend. Initially we'll just replicate exactly what we have now, then can slowly start adding the additional features we are planning. We will also be using many of the same design elements (static files and javascript) between the Horizon plugin and the website itself. There's lots more happening here in the months to come at any rate :) If you ever think about ways to make OpenStack clouds more useful for the end-users (or are just curious about what we are up to), please join us on IRC (#openstack-app-catalog).
